Well I'm not sure but if you turn the trimmer all the way down it should not kill your sound... down - smoother up - aggressive I didn't play with my trimmer yet, I like it as is.

WOUU that looks bad, man if this would happen to me, I would replace the PT, ...just to be on the safe side. I know it's an expensive part but damn with a PT like that I would not be able to sleep at night.

I went with 1/2W resistor and a 1.3W zener, it's an overkill but why not.

Your clean CH becomes more aggressive...less clean headroom, slightly fatter as well You can use a switch, so you can have both flavours at your finger tips.
