Tim,
Before we can answer specifically, please let us know what you are building.
For the time being a 6 pole standby switch just requires the middle lug and bottom lug on one side wired. It depends on the circuit where the leads go though.
Shielded wire is NOT for the heater supply. It's usually reserved for the input section and/or other noise sensitive areas.
Diodes? Are you sure you don't mean...resistors?
As for the Output trans wires....again, what are you building; head or combo of what?
There is no such thing as a dumb question.
Cheers,
Chris

I got a sweet deal on a Eminence RedFang, so I will try that out for a starter. If it does'nt suit at least I can flick it off and get something else. Alnico type has to be a reasonable starting point though?
Thanx, Tim.
Some people have given positive reviews of the 18 watt circuit and the Red Fang.

A little help from Celestion site... Example: 2 X 4 Ohm Speaker = 8 Ohm Load 2 X 8 Ohm Speaker = 16 Ohm Load 2 X 16 Ohm Speaker = 32 Ohm Load or Example: 2 X 4 Ohm Speaker = 2 Ohm Load 2 X 8 Ohm Speaker = 4 Ohm Load 2 X 16 Ohm Speaker = 8 Ohm Load Karma hog...lol. Good of you to post the diagrams.

Hey Tim,
There are a lot of possibilities here. If it's a real dilemma I would spend a few minutes searching the 18watt.com forum archives. Typical choices are Heritage G12H30's, greenbacks, broken in Vintage 30's, any number of the Emi redcoats, Weber has a few, and by many accounts the warehouse speakers are fine. I bought a bunch of Sammi's and they are pretty good, too. Like I said, there are a LOT of great speakers that go well with 18 watters.

Website, Store / Support / Re: chassis dimensions for Overtone special

Who told you that?? The Overtone chassis is 18.25 x 8 x 2.5. If you are making a typical "snug fit" cab to the chassis leave a bit of space on the 18.25 length as there are screw heads that protrude beyond that measurement.

I see a V30 in your future Jack. I too, am quite partial to the RWB but can certainly appreciate that a lot of great players are digging the 12-65. How's that for diplomatic.

Hey, it sounds like a good plan to me. I never under-estimate the power of chance and possibility. You may discover your golden grail tone. Go for it and keep us up to date on your progress.
You are correct on the speaker impedance. The Overtone has 4, 8, and 16 ohm secondaries so you are good to go. I'd choose 16 ohm given the choice. Series and parallel wiring diagrams are a quick google search away. Do it and DIY with confidence.

Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Other Effects Loop Buffering Options

I have an Ironsounds loop in my d'lite and it works extremely well. I have a second set of boards sitting on my bench and I've been pondering implementing the unit somehow into the Overtone. There's no way it will go in the chassis so I have to figure out how to effectively mount it "on" the chassis and keep the wire runs as short as possible. If that works it will be the least expensive buffered solution. If I ever get around to installing it I'll post the results.

Rahimiii, so, what's it sound like? I gave up on the 18 watt reverb years ago. My interest is piqued for the Overtone though.

Hmmm....that post looks familiar.. What does that "bag of wind" know anyway!! ChrisL "candh" PS All that was said before I really got into tweaking both circuits. Now, both are much, much better and "chewier".
