61  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: (Clip) To HRM or not HRM, that is the question? on: October 05, 2008, 09:32:02 AM
Hey Marin...I haven't been around in quite a while....great to see you're still very active around here!  Sounding great as always....
OK, so what is going on?  What's the 2 amps in the video clips?  One looks just like my Overtone Special...and the other one looks similar but it's called something different (the logo/name?Huh?)
Are there new models?  Are there mods?   In my opinion, even though they sound very similar, the Non-HRM sounds better to me...a little smoother and more like robben ford tones I'm always chasing.

SO, bring me up to speed!!!

Cheers Grin
-Jeff

I did another clip with the HRM where I smoothed out the tone (perhaps too much!):

HRM version: smooth and fat tone. Perhaps a bit too smooth, but there were opinions that it couldn't do these tones:

thats great! Is the one from naples?
Marin

Yes it is.
With all the issues down there, I was a little worried but the guy in CentroChitarre was really cool, so no worries.

I think they both sound great. Marin where are your Od trimmers set, and are you running effects?

The OD trimmer was set at 13:00 o clock, almost equiavalent to a stock non-HRM. The FB switch was set to 4k7 ohm (i.e. like stock).

The is an AxeFx in the loop for reverb and delay.

thanks

Hmmmm,

non-HRM wants to sustain more, HRM is a little bit thicker, in the smoothness department, HRM is a little bit in front but non-HRM is right there as well.
I'm surprised how close they are sound wise.

Marin, THANKS a lot for this.

PS: My fiddle will be coming tomorrow.  Chair Dance

I've been getting a lot of email about how do the 2 amps compare, so I recorded this clip.

Here are the 2 amps played with the same setting on the guitar and the effects. It not easy to set the same tone on both amp, since the HRM has 2 mid boost switches. The non-HRM's "midrange" falls somewhere between these two settings, so its tough to get a the same tone on both. Here's the clip, let me know what you think:

HRM smoother and fatter tone:

thanks for watching.

I have finally bought some short cables for my Kleinulator and I'll be able to try it out.

I'm curious what improvements it will add, since the amp rocks as it is! Smiley

I would need a V30 speaker to do a rock riff properly! Wink

72  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: HRM or non-HRM....which to choose????? on: September 23, 2008, 09:55:22 PM
Nik has put an OD trim on the back so you can make the HRM growl if you want!

thanks Ika. Your samples are a killer.
75  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Strat Tones with the OTS on: September 17, 2008, 04:10:51 PM
I'd recommend to keep the mids high (both switch and tone knob) and the Overdrive low whilst keeping the volume between 6-8. It keeps the tone relatively clean but "FAT". Smiley
