As far as I know using FET simulate resistor is not a must... but if you want to be "consistent" with the ODS design, that resistor is used to replace the load, power section have with the FET. I think this resistor will affect you B+ voltages a little... I've seen 150K or 220K used in there... but you better use at least 2W resistor... that resistor can get very hot

Did you see this? http://ceriatoneforum.com/index.php?topic=664.0 It's not exactly what you want but still, it might help a bit. I tried it with my OTS and the jump is a little smaller but it's still a boost.

What every you do on the V2 tube... the clean would not be affected. If you do something on the V1, the OD will feel that. OD Level and Ratio are OD only, so clean will stay "clean".

I'm glad this works for you... As far as I know many people use the trimmer just to find what value they like and than use the resistor instead.

Forgot to mention LNFB Well that switch is very subtle... what you get is a slight (just a little) boost and maybe some more bass and hi end is getting through. Like I said very subtle mod... don't expect to much with that mod.
