Thanks!

Not an easy build and if this is your first ever... man you're brave.
...I'm sure with some determination and patience it's doable... just take it slowly.

It might help to have an amp tech standing by, just in case.

I'm starting a thread about my BM HRM build...
...it might be helpful to check it out.

4. Working on the V1, V2 sockets, man I don't know how can Nik and the guys wire that foot switch connector and that switches so nicely (I guess my fingers are to big Smiley )

3.) Relay PS board and the voltage regulator...

2.) Tone stack pots, switches and input jacks... this was very slow process but it was fun (at least for me)

I thought this would be useful for all of you guys who don't know where to start when you receive your kit... so I'll post my build progress here and show all my mistakes for you to learn from. Cheesy
Let me just say... this is my first D style amp build and let me say something... this is not easy. Hats down to all of you guys who already did this... not to mention Nik and his guys which are doing it all the time.  Smiley

First... mount HW and do the heaters (if you are doing it Marshall style), tough job wiring heaters, it helps to do this outside the chassis  first and then move in... I did it the hard way of course  Sad

EDIT: Some of you were asking where those heater wire go... I attached another photo, this one shows all the pins... Wink

Hi Mcinku;
I shamelessly copied the way you wired your Deep switch, because the dress was so much neater, but after two consecutive rewiring attempts, the sound continues to only get deeper with the switch in "down" position rather than the "up" position. Is that how yours works as well? If not, can you think of what I might have done wrong?
Thanks,

Pine

Don't worry, I copied it from Nik HRM layout  Grin
You got it right... deep switch does not add even more bass but it makes it tighter... very useful in some situations.
I use it quite a lot... if room is very bassy, the deep helps with that flabby low end

Mcinku; no3: you're right; but you have to make sure that nothing is within a inch distance of the heater wires(Like in TW's). It otherwise will destroy your sound.

I agree but I also think one inch is a little to much... at least I don't have that clearance in my OTS and it sounds good to me
566  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS Parts received on: May 20, 2009, 10:27:32 AM
Maybe it's wise to do the heater wiring in a later stage; when installing them in the beginneing it's difficult to get them floating above the tube sockets(like Fender and dumble did...)

You right, it depends how you do it.
I'm just starting a bluesmaster HRM kit and I was thinking a while how am I going to do the heaters. At the end I decided to go with the "Marshall" way,... and I have three reasons...
1. If it's ugly you can't see it   Grin
2. The access to sockets it's much easier (for measuring, maintaining...)
3. I have it in my OTS (build by Nik) and that amp sounds good as hell  Cool (even TWs has it done that way and we all know how TWs are touchy about the wiring)

Some words of wisdom from Nik him self...  Wink

1) Mount all hardware first, except trannies
2) Then do heaters
3) Then work on the hardware - pots, switches etc. You will need to do up the jacks from outside of amp and then install perhaps
4) Put in the boards. You can do the small ones first, and wire it up perhaps. Dont put the PS and Main boards yet
5) Put in the OT and choke cause these sit under boards
6) wire it all up, boards included.
7) Put in the PT and do final wiring
