467  American Style / 5E3 Tweed Deluxe / 5E3 6L6 OT change... on: August 17, 2009, 12:55:14 PM
For some reason OT died on me the other day...
I decided to go with something different just to see how this will affect the tone itself. Unfortunately I'm unable do the clips which will demonstrate the tone change but at least I can explain how different the amp feels now.

I decided to go with a huge OT (50W) and that affected the headroom quite a bit. Now my amps stays clean much longer... apart from that, the amp feels to have more presence, but I can't prove that, it just feels like that.
Bottom line is, my amp is back and the OT change seems tom be a change for the better.

Guess which OT is the new one  Grin

473  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: S & M or HRM?-----50 watts or 100 watts? on: August 08, 2009, 11:44:07 AM
S&M is the most aggressive amp compared to others... a lot of OD on tap, it goes into feedback really nicely. OD is a bit brighter, it has more presence compared to others. On the other hand with S&M it's hard to set nice clean and OD sound at the same time ( at least that's mine experience ). So if you want a rock machine and don't care about switching between clean and OD on the fly... that's the amp for you.
HRM has less OD, it's smoother and deeper sounding amp. More Robben Ford if you wish. With HRM you can set a OD sound which goes better with your clean sound... if that's important to you.
OD character on both amps are different but it's hard to explain how different.

You did watch the Marin youtube clip about those amps, did you?

Bottom line... both amps are awesome sounding devices. So what every you decide at the end, you will end up with an awesome amp.
