47  British Style / 20 Watt Lead, Bass / Building a 20W Lead & Bass on: December 06, 2007, 08:15:07 PM
I am building a 20W L&B for a customer and also one for myself.

Here's a sneak preview of it on top of my JTM45

If that ain't cool, I don't know what is  Cool
48  British Style / Plexi Lead, Bass, Superlead / Re: Anyone tried GT 6CA7s in a 50W or 100W? on: November 29, 2007, 08:48:22 AM
Thanks, I'd appreciate it.
Also experience with any other brand 6CA7 would be appreciated.
49  British Style / Plexi Lead, Bass, Superlead / Anyone tried GT 6CA7s in a 50W or 100W? on: November 21, 2007, 09:07:49 AM
I usually put in JJs, but was wondering how the GT 6CA7s would hold up.

What plate voltages did you get?

51  American Style / 5E3 Tweed Deluxe / Combocab dimensions on: November 14, 2007, 03:14:21 PM
Hi, I'm looking for a build plan for a 5e3 combo I have to build.
I'll be using a 15" speaker so I'll probably have to ajust the size to make it fit, but anyone has anything to share?
52  American Style / 5E3 Tweed Deluxe / Re: 6L6 in a 5e3 on: November 14, 2007, 02:13:18 PM
Thanks. How do you like it? Same character but louder?

Anyway, it's not an easy switch to make back and forth...
53  American Style / 5E3 Tweed Deluxe / 6L6 in a 5e3 on: November 14, 2007, 01:52:36 PM
Don't know if it's possible at all or what mods need to be made to the standard circuitry, but has anyone tried putting 6L6s in it instead of 6V6s?

I see which one you mean now Smiley

It's on every schematic that I have seen so as far as I know it should be there.

Which one are you talking about?
56  American Style / 5E3 Tweed Deluxe / Powerrating of 5e3? on: November 09, 2007, 02:09:15 PM
Hi Guys,

I'm a Marshall-man by nature Wink but someone asked me if I could build him a 5e3.
Can anyone tell me what the official powerrating of this amp is?
Something like 20W with 2 6V6s?
Or am I far off.

Also, what's the tonal difference with the 5e7?

Thanks!
57  British Style / 20 Watt Lead, Bass / Re: Who has already built one on: November 08, 2007, 08:23:17 PM
Got a question from a customer: can the 20W Lead & Bass be used for playing bass?

Any thoughts? Anyone tried it?
58  British Style / JTM 45, 50 / Re: jtm45 with/without PPIMV on: November 08, 2007, 05:49:54 PM
Depends on the exact PPIMV, but the Ken Fisher (which is the most straight forward one) is out of circuit when on 10.
59  British Style / 20 Watt Lead, Bass / Re: Who has already built one on: November 08, 2007, 07:58:59 AM
Would it work well in a combo too?

I know that it would better to have the tubes hanging down, but the BluesBreaker didn't have and that amp didn't suck Smiley

Any rattling problems?
60  British Style / JTM 45, 50 / Re: jtm45 with/without PPIMV on: November 07, 2007, 01:16:07 PM
Bass is always a problem with a JTM45.

I have put a PPIMV in my JTM45 and never regretted it. I just 100k stereo instead of 250k tho. Helps to keep the bass tighter it seems.
