I'm using a Fuchs, front-ported 1x12 with an EVM-12L (16ohm) in it right now.  It sounds great, to my ears, anyway.  I used to have an 8ohm Warehouse Guitar Speaker E65 (Celestion G12-65 clone) in the Fuchs cab.  It also sounded great, I'm just preferring the EV right now.  BTW, I use a stock Mex Tele (backup guitar), or my #1, a Les Paul with a JB in the bridge & a Pearly Gates in the neck, RS pots & caps.

how about some pics detailing exactly what was done?

You might try a lower gain tube in V2, that's what I've done & I'm really enjoying the tone.  I think I have a NOS JAN 12AY7 in there, or a 12AT7.  Some might say that the amp sounds best with 12AX7's, as that's what HAD put in his builds, but tone is in the ear of the beholder, and its easy to change back if its not for you.  Good luck.

I lucked out and found a 1x12", front-ported, closed-back Fuchs cab for $150.  I loaded it with a 12" EVM12L, nice combo.  For ease of portability, and the fact that lots of places I've played really don't like a lot of stage volume, the 1x12 worked out great.  I'd love a 2x12", though.

I think there was a change on the bass pot cap from .0012uf to .001uf, too.

I've never used the DD-20 or the DL4, but the Nova sounds great.  I did have a DD3, an Ibanez RI AD9, and an original Roland Space Echo RE-201 for quite awhile.  The Nova does great tape sounds, analog sounds, and (obviously) fantastic 2290-esque sounds.  Admittedly, it is A LOT of pedal to get a handle on, & I haven't even begun to really figure it out.

I have a Kleinulator and a TC Electronic Nova Delay, that's all.  I have a Barber Small Fry and a Vox V847 wah, as well, but I'm not using those at this time.

Yeah, I've had the amp for about a month now, just without a head cab.  While it was "naked", I tried the EVM12L Classic & the WGS E65, right now the 65 is what's in the cab.  I love the sound of the 65, the weight is another thing compared to the EV, but the EV does sound great, too.  What I'm really waiting on is the opportunity to turn this thing up, then I'll have a baseline re:  E65 vs EVM12L.

Also, since the EV is 16ohm, I could eventually augment my setup with another 1x12" cab, 16ohm speaker (perhaps a Celestion Heritage G12-65) & get a total load of ~8 ohms.

A supposed Fuchs 1x12" front ported, closed-back cab.  I found it at Austin Vintage Guitar last month for $150 unloaded.  Right now it has a WGS E65 (Celestion g12-65 clone) in it, but I'm thinking about putting in my EVM12L Classic.

I don't really know if this is a Fuchs cab or not.  It looks very well made, but most of Andy's stuff is also A LOT more expensive.  Admittedly, I did buy this used & it has a few dings, scratches, and gouges in it, but $150?  I gotta get some good pics of it & send 'em to Andy to find out for sure.

Mine:

The OTS is sitting on top of a supposed Fuchs 1x12" ported, closed-back cab with a WGS E65 (Celestion G12-65 clone).  I also have an EVM12L sitting around here that is probably going back into the cab soon.

Less than 2 hours of play time on it, $175 shipped.

Is this what the "HRM" stuff is?  Internal trimmers beyond what's available in the OTS (which is a "non-hrm" design).
59  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Tone Controls, Switches, etc............ on: August 30, 2008, 05:48:04 PM
This may sound very dumb, but I did this myself, so...

Make sure the PAB is not engaged.  Like I said, I did this, felt very silly after scratching my head for 30 minutes!  Haha.  I've also read that the "Rock" setting is a bit like the PAB, too, shifting the freq's up, hence the more aggressive sound.  I would figure that would mean there would be more "play" in the "Jazz" setting.

Good luck!

For me, putting the 12AT7 in V2 meant I had to kick the trimmer up from ~9 to 10:30.

For biasing, maybe check out Ted Weber's site for his "Bias-Rite" tool; it might make things easier.

Good luck!
