It is hard to give an advice on such matters. Most important is what makes you play and feel better!. Personally I only use wah pedal with a true bypass in front of the amp and time based FXs in the amp loop (C-lator or whatever). For me also nothing is better than my amp’s drive. No pedal comes closer ( I’ve tried Ethos TLE, Damkudo, Zendrive, freakish Alpha drive, Koch pedaltone and many more).
Thank you for listening and comment Sduck, It is a fresh project and I hope band will get better with time. Amp is gorgeous, great fun to play. Best wishes
Hi, Studio 12L is a good speaker but it has Slightly reduced mids which suites heavy metal players. Loads of lows and highs. Still no match to EV !!!. So get another EV.
Sir would this Fane be a good solution for somebody who finds an ODS/ OTS too mid heavy?
I like huge sounding strat tone. EVM 12L is my choice but I'm a bit concerned about too much mids from an OTS. I'm halfway through my kit.
Thanks
It would be helpful if you can borrow a cab with Studio12L and try it, but if not… Yes, it is a great speaker and probably will work for you just fine. It is definitely a huge sounding speaker with 102 db. Cheers
Hi, I've started a new trio covering Hendrix and Cream tunes, also some original songs. Here are some video clips from the first gig. My OTS 50 does great job together with a modified Parker guitar. Hope you enjoy. More clips will follow. Cheers

Change 180k OD inlet resistor (marked with X and goes to a ratio pot’s X terminal) to 68k (more drive volume), change 0,005 cap to 0,01 behind the above mentioned resistor(fatter drive tone). Also reduce V1’s 150k slope resistor to 100 or 68k – more liquid, compressed clean and drive tone. Your amp will sound much better than now. Cheers
I believe forum member Pickmaster uses a multi effect pedal in the loop without a buffer and it works very well. I have used my space echo without the c-lator and it worked pretty good as well.
Gregg
Hi Gregg,
Yes, you are correct, I use modified Digitech RP-200 in the loop. It is connected to the amp with 4m four individually shielded core cable (capacitance - core to shield is 99pf and overall diameter - 5,6mm, very flexible). Cable is for send/return and channel switching as well.
I also have loopolator by Bludotone and C lator by Ceriatone. They are identical and work well with my TC electronic G major but I still prefer the RP-200.
I have to mention that from the Digitech line only old RP 100 and RP 200 works in the loop without input overload problems, they can take enormous input signal without distorting it.
I'm sure there are many similar multieffects which work great in the D style loop without additional buffer. Important requirements are highest possible input impedance, EQ and adjustable high volume output.
Here's my newly completed Bluesmaster 50. Nik built the chassis, I built the cabinets. The blank rack space is for loop effects, probably a G-major 2, haven't yet decided. Plenty of room to change tubes, or even a third rack if I modified the front. Tolex is wine taurus, fender wheat grille, 2 x G12-65s. The racks down the bottom are convenient, but do make the proportions look a little odd IMO.
Nice one ic, G - Magor 2 will work great, it even switches channels. Great job.
Hi everyone, Some nice jam compilation with lovely Hammond man Mr. Dave Lennox (ex Ginger Baker, Herbie Hancock, Blodwyn pig, etc) Great job from band members: Ivan Hoe, Dave Troy and Mike Chase. Also thanks to lovely OTS 100 for near orgasmic pleasure.
I always consider two things when building a cab: Tone and weight, especially when we build multispeaker cabinets.
EV has a great tone but as we all know it is extremely heavy, that's why I use neodymium speaker with it. If you want to bright up a cab use Celestion G12 Century (not the Century vintage). To add more bass - try Eminence Deltalite II 2512 which has same 100 db sensitivity as EV.
To go bit heavier, Fane AXA12 alnico is great together with EV or Celestion G12 K100.
Eminence Patriot Series 12'' speakers are 101 or 102 db so they work great with EV depending on players taste. I like RWB and Cannabis Rex.
No Eminence speaker comes closer to EV, especially old EVs. To compare speakers properly you have to use a/b box and identical speaker cabinets. I totally agree here with Hywell. I’ve got a,b,c,d switch box and we have tried four different speakers in our CCC lab using four identical cabs. EV is the definite winner, period.
