You get absolutely everything to finish the kit. If you want to test it and bias it yourself you'll need a multimeter, but thats all.

I added two pots plus some co-ax cable to mount my FET and OD trimmers on the back panel and I changed the footswitch connector to a 5 pin Neutrik XLR.

When you receive a kit, does it contain items such as
1. BOM or list of parts
2. Instructions

1 Yes
2 No, you need to use the layout drawing

Also, looking at the diagram of the OTS there are two boards on the far left side. I can read some of the values of the caps/resistors, but there are a few that just look black with one stipe. What are those two boards and what are the values of those black one? Am I missing something looking at those?

Those things with black stripes are diodes, but as these boards come ready assembled you don't need to worry what they are!

You got Larry Carlton to test drive your rig!!!! Man you are well connected, congratulations.

424  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: No mid control - Can someone check for me ? on: April 06, 2009, 10:14:43 PM
So when you had ALL controls off, and turned the middle control up, it did make an audible difference ?  My mid only works if the Bass is up.

Yes it did, but I have to say, not much.

I installed a Red Snapper on the FET board. Used the three switch holes for the controls , Vol, bite and Gain.  Installed push-pull treble & middle pots for "bright" & "deep", not that I use them.    Wired the snapper to the PAB relay so I can operate it from the footswitch.

Wow that was very inspired!

Love it.  Sold both my Two rocks.

Nice one!

Cheers

Hywel

Hi John, this might be of little or no use to you as I changed my mid cap a while back to try and scoop some mids out of the tone to make it more Fenderish, anyway doing your test I do get a little variation in the mids. You know how Matt showed us how he dialed in an amp by turning the knobs quickly over the full range? well doing that I can hear a small change in the mids, not much and the cusp seems to be at around 6 or 7.

Be interested to know what you've done to get a clean boost, is it the mod that Dr Ika posted, the one that gives a control over the PAB function?

Cheers

I found this on the webber site

Immensely useful thanks.

The intention of the buffer in the line input is to reduce the effect of long cable runs on tone loss. Changes the impedance.

429  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: How can I get Hilden's es335 + dumble tone with my OTS???? on: April 01, 2009, 07:00:33 PM
You're going to need his fingers aswell!
430  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Which reverb pedal for OTS??? on: April 01, 2009, 06:58:08 PM
John Edmonds did some demo videos of the Tc Nova reverb and Delay pedal somewhere in this forum. I got the nova reverb based on his report. Very good indeed and you don't need a Kleinulator, it will take a line input voltage happily and you can calibrate it to the signal level.

If I find the posts John made I'll add a link later.
431  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Poll:- Bias settings on: April 01, 2009, 01:18:32 PM
What made me ask was this I read on Eurotubes
http://www.eurotubes.com/euro-l.htm#5

Going as high as 55mA with plate voltages of 485v. But then he is in the business of selling new tubes :-)

I'd be interested in hearing the tone at that level but would be wary of doing it myself!
432  Ceriatone / Overtone / Poll:- Bias settings on: March 31, 2009, 06:38:54 PM
Interested to know what your bias readings are and whether you have experimented with alternate values.

5751 in V2 will not give you a more creamy o/d. It will lower the gain.
434  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: HRM, very bright amp ? on: March 27, 2009, 08:29:37 PM
You should put a signal thru the amp if you do this according to my amp guy or all your doing is wasting electricity.  But, yes I subscribe to the burn in theory.
Jim

Wasn't necessary with my DC-30 I just built. I just left it on for two spells of 8 hours. Made a very big difference (but that one was really nice right from the start and just got better)
435  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Best speaker?` on: March 27, 2009, 08:26:56 PM
I think I'm the only guy on this site to use 10'' speakers

Nope, been using a 4x10, Jensen P10Rs since I got my OTS.
