376  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: advise on getting a SRV tone on: January 27, 2009, 06:22:52 PM
Hi guys

how would you go about getting a tone close to Stevie Ray Vaughn's?
I have a Mexican strat with Texas Specials.
Doesn't get anywhere near SRV's sound though.

Hey Steven,

Do my mods on OTS Grin and you will have SRV-ish clean like this
http://www.guitarampcab.com/cclean.mp3

and drive like this
http://www.guitarampcab.com/cplexi.mp3
And my pickups are just ordinary cheap strat pickups

Also as guys mentioned heare you have to play like SRV too  Wink

Shocked

Uhhh that was hot Ika, really nice.

Watching this makes me want to play my guitar.

 Wink

Thanks my man,
love to do it more frequently but it’s getting harder and harder to get good club gigs. Credit crunch? Financial crisis?
379  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Overtone Soundclips on: January 26, 2009, 04:45:53 PM
Thanks Marin,

Guitar is Mirage with two singles and a bridge humbucker(custom job) straight to the OTS with Digitech RP200 in the loop. 1x12 cab with Celestion Century. that's all.
Really simple and enjoyable setup.

I owe Dr Ika a HUGE drink  Grin

John

You owe me nothing my friend!
It was great pleasure to test amps, cabs and guitars.
I loved your Telecaster, it sounded great in your hands.

Best wishes

Two years ago in Georgia before Russian military base clearance I’ve bought 100 military spec 6L6s for $20 from some Russian sergeant.
10 000 hours and high voltage capability, lovely sounding tubes.

He also added 20 NOS Telefunken  and 30 Tungsram  ECC83s for $35
I guess I was lucky Grin.
383  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OD Question on: January 23, 2009, 10:21:39 AM
Sounding like a marshall?? Turning the trimpot too high makes the amp gainy, fuzzy, non dynamic and over-the-top-compressing. Plain ugly if you ask me Undecided

Or heavy metal heaven for some Grin
384  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: EVM-15L Any opinions? on: January 22, 2009, 05:49:08 PM
Well, definitely good speaker but I’ll be little bit hesitant to buy used speaker on Ebay. It is just me ! Embarrassed I had bad experience on some Ebey stuff. Angry
385  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: New Mullard production in UK on: January 22, 2009, 05:35:42 PM
That's what they say:
"In the initial stages product can only be ordered direct form the factory. There are two ways to do this. First and most effective is via the web shop www.techtubevalves.com, secondly you can call direct using the contact numbers off the web and the operative will take your order over the phone but still you will require a credit / debit card for payment".

One of the best!!! speakers I've tried but very heavy and hard to get in good condition.
387  Ceriatone / Overtone / New Mullard production in UK on: January 22, 2009, 03:15:17 PM
New Mullards factory with other name in UK
I have not tried yet but we'll see.

388  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Pickmaster, clarification please on: January 18, 2009, 01:10:24 PM
Three way switches just give you one more  option and those Pickmaster used are termed ON-OFF-ON DPDT (dual pole dual throw) switches. So in the middle position the common is connected to nothing.

Thanks Hywel, It is correct!
389  Muchless / DC 30 / Re: Thanks to John Edmonds for live demo on: January 09, 2009, 01:50:58 PM
Hi Doc, I ordered my kit just before Christmas but haven't had much time to work on it. Hoping to get a few hours on Sunday.

I have also ordered a powerscaling kit from London Power and have arranged to get Shane Dolman, a londonpower accredited tech to install this. Will let you all know how it works out.

Hi Hywel,

That’s great, I’m sure you’ll love the final product, I was very impressed – really great  tone.
Shane is a good friend of mine and great amp builder so say hello from me.

Cheers
390  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Eminence speakers on: January 08, 2009, 08:29:06 PM
Hi Pickmaster  Have you tried the Jensen Neo 100 and compared it to the Tornado. I have the Jensen Neo 100 and also an Eminence Neo speaker, both sound similar although the Jensen  may sound a little darker.  Im still  making up my mind which one to use.

Hi nitPicker,

No, I have not.
Never tried eminence neos either, but compared Tornado and Celestion Century and Tornado was more bassy and little bit darker.
I’m still in love with my 2x12 with Centuries in it but thinking to replace one with the Tornado.
