On your music sharing page there's a clip called Roots-77. Really nice playing, very fluid with a lovely tone. What guitar and amp was that?

Thanks

Hywel Harris

22volts between centre pin and pin nearest big (black) caps as seen here.

I played it yesterday... just a few minutes (didn't have time for anything more) but I can already say this amp is very much different from my Overtone... and I couldn't stop smiling while I was playing.
Can't say much more at this point.

Different how? C'mon don't keep us in suspense!

Great, well done. Now don't forget to burn it in well.

Do you have a DC-30? If not you really really want one, believe me!
366  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Dumblelator vs. Kleinulator on: May 26, 2009, 12:48:12 PM
And having it in the ?*ator means you can use it with other amps.
367  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Dumblelator vs. Kleinulator on: May 26, 2009, 08:27:38 AM
Does this mean I need to do *umbleator? Smiley

It's already in the works, but too much stuff going on here currently.

The chassis is rack type, but made shorter so it'd fit at the bottom of the can (about 7" depth only or so).

Thanks!

Nik

Nik, please consider putting a relay in that rack box to allow for bypass switching. So many effects don't do true bypass and its something that bugs me. You could also consider a relay to bypass the D*ator but that might be contrary to what people want since I guess most would prefer it to be in circuit always.

Also a 9v/12v/18v out would be absolutely marvellous for keeping pedal type effects powered without the need for separate transformers.
368  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: 1/2 power mod on a 50watt OTS ? on: May 25, 2009, 10:15:40 AM
Has anyone here tried the THD Yellowjackets tube converter? According to their web site, they should cut a 50watt amp down to around 20w.

I'd be interested to know aswell. They are quite expensive just to try it and see.

Very interesting comparison. K* seems warmer all the way through than D*, but less noticeable on the cleans maybe. I'd guess you could dial out the difference with the amp eq.

What were your amp settings, I'm guessing but I think you had it quite loud yes? What guitar amd speaker?

Any chance you could record the effect of turning the guitar volume down. Does it clean up like an Express does?

This is the first chance i've had to listen to a Liverpool and I am impressed, my next build is going to be something Marshallesque and I was almost ready to order a Plexi 50 until I heard these clips. I so like the tone of my DC-30 that I think 4xEL84 has to be the way to go, so musical and expressive.

Kit or Nik build? Ceraitone trannies or other? Any chance of some pics, Niks pics still show no face-plates, are these now included?

Thanks

Hywel Harris

Excellent. Thank you. Amp sounds stunning and nice playing too.
372  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Which wires to use? on: May 22, 2009, 01:08:18 PM
Just be methodical about it. Double check each solder joint as you do them. Work on one thing at a time and mark it off with a highlighter on a print of the layout. Then take it to a tech to power it up and test it.
373  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS Parts received on: May 20, 2009, 10:25:08 AM
I did mine slightly differently. I installed the tranformers just before doing the heater wires. This raised it off the bench a little and made it easier to work on as it was very stable. Wired the PT first then the heaters, leaving the OT till very near the end.
374  Muchless / DC 30 / Re: Started Build tonight...... on: May 18, 2009, 08:45:59 AM
The layout has changed. This was the layout I used. Nik does update layouts, usually making small changes. If you follow the layout you'll be fine or you could use this one.
