Just a webcam man. It cannot even capture the lows.

I'm glad you liked it.  Grin

These amps are really interesting to record. So far I can see what others say that they record nice. The difference is sort of like the sound became marshmallows when recorded.
33  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: My first amp project on: November 05, 2012, 05:16:04 PM
I'm glad to be of help man.

Kudos for making your first amp with no problems whatsoever.

Oh thats so cool you don't have to think about the paint scraping. I actually thought this would take a lot of Nik's production time to do it right. Its also cool that my amp now is like a rare transition color. Hahah its like "Oh I got a '12 white chassis OTS".
34  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Transformers and choke on: November 05, 2012, 03:38:07 PM
Lol I got confused with Homesick and Hurtwoodec at a quick glance. I was indeed talking to you.

I never would've thought a bout it but I think you're right. I'm a bit limited in experience with cables but I think it makes sense cause this mogami I use sound brighter and detailed but stiff compared to others I tried in the store before I got it.

And on the Output Transformer, I also have supposedly an "upgrade" OT which is the 18025 Classic Tone which is sorta like their flagship iron. I always wanted a big sounding OT and listening to their clips, I opted for this CTone but after reading your posts, I think I have better view of the big picture.

If you noticed I was rambling in this thread about stiffness I can't dial out with my OTS. Do you think it could be my Classic Tone OT? My PT is Nik's btw. I have 360v plate voltages on v4 v5. When I clipped my LNFB, the compression it contributed seems to satisfy me for the moment though so right now I'm happy.

That looks awesome.

Please post more pics especially when the cab arrives. Congrats. I know the feeling.

_ Wait why is your chassis like bare metal? Aren't the new ones in white?
_I like your thread locker what was it?

@ HurtwoodEC

Isn't super fast and super highs mean "Stiff"? Is that what you mean with unforgiving too?

The only 22-35 watt range to ever impress me (YouTube Clips) is one Jet and one Studio Pro 35.

And with my OTS 50 now 50% modded to Pickmaster's TR Clean spec, I made a video and I can roughly compare now with my fave YouTube Clips and I can say I can definitely hang with the Two Rocks especially most Studio Pro's in terms of how your listeners perceive the tone. I've yet to play a TR so can't comment on response and overall feel.

My demo;

Here's the SP 35 vid I liked (It sounds very responsive to his right hand I think);

Here's a demo of the sound. But its webcam mic. Nice tone anyway I think, minus the capture distortion. And as you can see the master is barely on 1 lol.

I'm also interested with the path you're taking Thilo. Please let us know how great your additional mods do. Thanks again sir Ika. I've done just two of the mods so far and the clean is vastly improved. This is the first time I jammed to a Jm tune and was able to sound better than him. Tonewise.

I pretty much couldn't complain about the tone anymore. If I was to improve something it would be the response. Now, I understand that my two strats here are unfortunately on the bad side of things as it pertains to playability and less significantly, tone. They play so so. If I can change something, I'd like more compression just like the effect of removing the LNFB. A little more of that effect would be appreciated. I hope some of you have suggestions? I've yet to try a naturally touch responsive guitar though. I'm currently unlucky with guitars.

I'm also a bit unsure what to do with my 2012 OTS 50.

I've removed the bass cap and the LNFB and its much closer to the JM tone.

Now I guess I should also just follow your new layout on the FM Modern Eagle layout on the TR vs. OTS thread right Dr. Ika? And disregard that JM mod layout for OTS 100 on the older thread?

Thanks!
41  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Puzzling hum when not touching the strings on: October 26, 2012, 06:10:14 AM
I had a good bit of noise from my strat, but I did a good shielding job on it and now it is as quiet as can be!
Your tech should be able to do this and it will greatly improve the tone, as well as the gain output of the guitar.
It will make the strat useable with any amp at any volume. It will sound big, fat and powerful.
Cheers!

YOu know what I actually put a new alder body to this strat wich has that copper shilding paint. I grounded it and voila! Yes sir is quiet as it should be. I wouldnt kknow how much the tone improved or if the new body just changed the tone a bit. It's now a bit more trebley.
42  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS HRM BM vs T-R CRS V2 on: October 23, 2012, 04:13:41 PM
Yes that was a pretty quick mod which gave me what I was yearning for in this amp. I just removed the LNFB cap and left the 22M resistors. Is it okay to leave them there? I figured I'd have to heat and mess with the sockets to remove the 22m resistors so i guess its ok to leave them there with no cap instead?

I am looking forward to that "Well Tweaked" OTS that could blow away or hang with Two Rocks as you said but am also intrested in your JM mods for OTS. What do you suggest I do? Follow your old JM mod layout along with these new mods you posted here of the FM mod eagle?

Thanks again! Love the new more musical girth of my tone so far.
43  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS HRM BM vs T-R CRS V2 on: October 23, 2012, 01:18:25 PM
O --- M --- G !!!

I should've done this earlier!

I removed the LNF and the bass cap

Cured all my ills. The stiff attack I was rambling about was gone

Thanks a lot! Pickmaster. When I heard "more compression" on the LFB from your post I immediately removed my chassis and did it.

Now my sound has the BOUNCE man that bounce. And my overdrive is now set lower and I can turn up the ratio.
44  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS HRM BM vs T-R CRS V2 on: October 21, 2012, 02:28:30 AM
Sounds great sir! have fun on the tour.

I think I might go with your mods instead of converting to BM like I first planned. I figured it involves a lot of components and might aswell build a new chassis than kill an ots circuit.
45  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS HRM BM vs T-R CRS V2 on: October 19, 2012, 07:44:19 PM
Hahah thats good to know Pickmasta.

I remember you have a layout somewhere in this forum for an OTS modded for a Joh Mayer TR. Is that your latest? I am interested to mod my OTS 50 to JM specs in the future. I hope you can help me out sir.

 Cool
