dammit, life has a strangle hold on my wallet so i am sure your other guy will have sound clips up first. I used high temp ceramic engine paint from an autoparts store. I highly recomend it. its tough but make sure you let it dry fully or when you tighten your screws the paint will crack around the head. other option would be to primer the chassis first.

Custom amp building, Prototypes and other amps / Discussion / Re: need help designing a 4x12 bass cab

hmmm interesting....now the desision to build it 4x12 is simply based of my experience with the aguilar 4x12....I prefer the midrange of the attack from the cab as opposed from the 8x10 which i feel isnt very good for our preference of tone. my bplayer uses a 100 watt hiwatt clone so we are even considering using guitar drivers instead of bass. the interesting part of the aguilar design is it is essentially 2 2x12s in one box meaning there is a divider between the two sections. I mostly need help with the port size for each box section

poor drummers....always in the background....always stuck at ass level behind the guys that pull all the chicks and leave them to drive the van across state line. We put em on risers, give them their 15 minute solo (also known as the crowd beer break) and it never is enough. So drummers...twirl your sticks, play un-necessarily huge drum kits and try to make as big a scene as possible so that blonde in the back will actually look at you because we salute you.....and somebody needs to make the beer run when the chicks come to the practice space.

its loud loud loud.....and i use a 5150 sometimes for metal in the real world (not a bedroom). I know two guys that use them for dance type rock like franz ferdinand and such and they do the job but you have to really crank it to sound its best. attenuators and such only really work for bedroom players in my opinion and the jtm45 would need it if your gonna get drive. Nick has heralded the virtues of the 36 watt ef86 and rightly so. the design is highly versatile and can produce sound pressure levels equal to the jtm45. I use an ac30 for semi clean indie stuff right now and i have to say i am planning on replacing it with the 36watt ef86 just for the versatility alone.

I converted the rectifier to a solid state silicon diode but it did the same thing. I just got back in town and will try the new tubes at practice and I will see if this resolves the issue.
