Something's missing...you need a Tele... In all seriousness though, I don't think there's a person on this board who isn't at least a little bit jealous of your awesome collection!!

Tw Clones / Rock It! / Re: How many watts?

I'm surprised no one has commented back to you so far. The amp is an alleged 30 watt "Vox AC30 on steroids". I'm not sure about the metered wattage or the decibel reading, I CAN tell you that when I first plugged in and tried to play at volume 5 @ 30 watts (full power switch on) The treble (at 5 w/ treble cut at 5) through a custom 2x12 with Webers, the result was inducing involuntary, lip curling winces. This is the most aggressive 30 watts I've ever heard. I have some friends with 120 watt Crates with 4x12s and a 100 W Marshall also with a 4x12. I need to do a 1 to 1 with them, but I suspect this amp will hold its own. I know the output from 60 W Crate I had pales in comparison. The real plus is that the tone is phenomenal! I can roll back and forth a digit or two on the guitar volume at any setting and go from jazz clean to metal head crunch. If this is the lowest gain Trainwreck, I think I'm actually afraid of the Liverpool and Expression repros.
Thanks for coming back to me (luckily I'm a patient man...). What I really wanted to know was whether you can get a decent amount of Overdriven tone at usable volumes..??

Website, Store / Suggestions / Re: Blackface Fenders

Hi
Cool!
With the upcoming release of the SSS, I guess we can explore the blackface more.
With us having more recognition, I think we can do what we want, to the design.
it used to be "clone just sells easier.." but I think the natural progression, after some recognition, is to offer improved products of similar type
Well, some of you will smile knowing how "improved" stuff worked out for fender in the 70s.
But I am talking more abt features, look and feel, etc. I really dont like the slanted chassis front of the BF amps, for eg. Now I can make em straight and not worry so much! hehe..
Well actually, it worries me that we need to have 50 different cab designs. I'd love it if we can have 30 models that share the same cabs!
of course, the 1st phase of attack would be to the DR and SR models.
Thanks!
Nik
Just do them to fit in the OTS cabinet and all will be well with the world...

British Style / JTM 45, 50 / JTM45 or JTM50 for raw rock tones?
|
on: August 07, 2011, 05:51:20 PM
|
Okay, so I'm rethinking my entire philosophy towards my guitar and amp set up...and moving back towards what I was using 5 years ago before I started chasing certain specific tones...
For some reason I find myself drawn to the JTM45. I have had chance to play through an original a few years ago and remember it as being an amazing amp for blues, but what I want to know is how they handle more rock tones?
Think Bruce Springsteen type rawness with a Telecaster into the front end through a Tubescreamer. Easy enough to get?
Or is a JTM50 a better option and will this still get the bluesy tones the JTM45 is famed for?

They have had a holding page on that url for as long as I can remember and I've tried emailing them and never got a response. Personally I'd just deal direct with Nik - his service seems to be far, far better!!

Ceriatone / Overtone / Effect of Negative Feedback
|
on: April 04, 2011, 08:44:11 PM
|
Hi
I've seen a number of posts now where people talk about the Negative Feedback Loop and having Nik make it switchable.
I have 2 questions:
1) What is the negative feedback loop in terms of the amp circuit (ie where does it come and what does it do?) 2) What effect does it have on the sound - ie what would be the benefit of having it switchable?
I hope that makes sense...
Thanks
AJ

Hmm I think I can borrow a cab from a friend. I never took that into conciseration because everyone always told me that the old marshal 1960a cabs from the 80s was gold. ill give this a try later and get back to you. Btw your very helpful I greatly appriceate your help
They may well be, but only if the speakers are in working order.
