Maybe I should go into politics....lol.  Sorry, about the lingo.

BUT, since the HRM with a skyliner TS has no NFB on V1 the cleans will in fact be bigger.

Huh? uhhh.....ill take your word for it  Tongue haha thanks mate
32  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: HRM Model on: June 30, 2008, 06:10:35 AM

cadsy48,

The HRM isn't a different tone stack but rather an extra tone stack that is a post OD EQ.   The HRM does not affect the cleans since it is post OD,,BUT, since the HRM with a skyliner TS has no NFB on V1 the cleans will in fact be bigger.

Thanks for the info Nik Smiley

so as i understand it the HRM basically is a different tone stack, and this creates a more "rock" sound on the OD channel, and makes it slightly more touch sensitive..

are the cleans affected much or is it more the OD channel?  when it comes out i think it would be really helpful if there was a soundclip on the site that showed the two amps at the same settings and so it would display the difference to people.  because at the moment I have a feeling people who arent dumble savvy (myself included) still see a bit of mystery around what the HRM was designed to do...
cheers Smiley

  The 120 in normal mode, and 120 + 180 = 300pf seems like a good idea.

That sounds like the more sensible approach i reckon...

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly are the sound differences between the standard and HRM models??  I guess what Im trying to say is tone wise, what does HRM try to achieve?? Smiley

The Overtone as it is now is refered to as a non-HRM.  Non-HRM tend to have more singing, sweeter and sustaining lead tone and are generally a little easier to play.  HRM amps are more for the touch players but the tones are more complex.   That said, there is a lot of crossover possibility with what the HRM is based on...Bluesmaster or Skyliner tone stack, preamp plate values, OD entrance, 6L6's or EL34's,......

I'd go HRM for rock and non-HRM for the fusion stuff but that's generalizing too much because the players style is a huge factor in deciding which one is better for any given situation.

Hey Nik,

HRM...ya, I need some nasty.....I am a strat player after all.

So, BM?? Skyliner?? Plate values?? Pre OD values?? Dropping string 180k in place FET??

specs man....specs.. Grin
35  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Experiment in "quality components" on: June 27, 2008, 02:06:41 AM
Nik,

Ya, you told me long ago that your mission was "tone for the masses".  I know you won't raise your prices simply for the sake of perception so you are unfortunately going to have to deal with the consequences.  You have the best service in the industry (in my experience) when it comes to customer support and satisfaction.   It's a testament to your character that you even respond to inquiries like the one in question.  I somehow doubt Howard would pay too much attention....lol.

Seriously though,  If you are getting these "day in and day out" like you say and you are answering them we all lose.  I suggest constructing a "form letter" and just "Alt C, Alt V.....done.

Regards,

          Chris

Hey Chris,

Heh, I guess so. The psychology behind pricing, you got a point

But I will not raise price just because. Only if we have to, like increase in costs for raw materials, fuel, and such.

Otherwise, we'd be no different. It's Tone For the Masses, and that aint gonna change.

But answering on this point day in and day out, sometimes it does get old. I dont mind if people ask what components I use.

But coming straight away and assuming we use inferior parts, whereas we use pretty much what was in originals, and of comparable quality, thats something else.

GuitarGod: Are your trannies good quality? Who makes em?

 Ceriatone: Jupiter Magnetics.

Thanks!

Nik
Hey Nik,

Ah, don't let it get to you.  You know it will never change.  It really is quite comical in a truly pathetic kind of way.
Now this isn't something that we here at the Ceria forums necessarily want to discuss but.....You know, and I know, and every other savvy business person knows that the only solution to this "perception" of inferior quality is adjusting (significantly) your price point.

 Case in point...

I have a small business selling high end pens and have my own line.  I literally doubled my prices overnight upon suggestion from an advisor thereby shifting my target customer demographic and guess what....sales are moderately up,  but profits are WAY up and I'm selling to people who definitely appreciate the finer things.

That said, rest assured that we appreciate that Ceriatone produces a product that is atypical to the  "You only get what you pay for" dogma of these times.

Thanks Nik

haha thats crazy, i guess that guy didnt speak to anyone on here about the quality or read any reviews on harmony central either!

Oh, I don't know.  The comments on TGP regarding Ceriatone aren't always entirely glowing.  Based on that source alone one might tend to be skeptical.

dont say that it just means nik should put up his prices!!! wait till i order my overtone nik haha

I'm sure it's not a revelation or anything to Nik.....I hope....lol.

39  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: How Fender can the OTS get? on: June 25, 2008, 12:05:31 AM
Hey
why not use a podxt. It has all those sounds ;-). I know... I own serveral. LOL I gues in here that's blasphemy hehe. Luckily Scott Lerner had used one as well so I'm ni good company.

I must say I found ChrisL's answer a bit worrying. I am used to switching from a clean sound to an overdrive sound. The thought that the single tone stack is to limited for that, bothers me alot. I have ordered a Wampler Ecstacy to go with the new amp. I'll keep you posted.
It's (almost?) my turn to get my OTS so....

Do not worry Steven...lol.  The OT's tone stack is far from limited. In fact, it is quite the opposite case.  I play strats and teles pretty much exclusively and tend to lean towards the Philip Sayce kind of groove and sound (in my mind at least).  If I were to use the Overtone for clean and dirty I would need a switch that simutaneously toggles the bright, and mid-boost with the channel switch.  Not to mention I still don't actually have a footswitch....lol.....I got one of the first OT's.
That's fine though as I have always used an a/b rig for shows and it's what I'm used to.   Plus, I love the contrast between this combination of quality amps.
40  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: How Fender can the OTS get? on: June 23, 2008, 04:25:41 AM
Not much to say other than I use the Overtone for dirt and a 73 SF Super Reverb for cleans.  However, if I could switch channels in the Overtone (on the fly) without adjusting the tonestack I would be using the one amp.
41  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: So, I finally managed to build a cab for my OTS... on: June 02, 2008, 03:36:44 AM
congrats mcinku...that looks stellar.

43  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Overtone build pictures on: May 23, 2008, 03:18:02 AM
Hey Mark,

Build is looking good.  Got any of that perfboard left........buddy ol pal?  I can't seem to find any these days.  A customer wants an 18 watter with perf and I want to build a "wreckish" amp with some.

I've had a hankering to build a Rocket for a few years now...that and about 10-15 other great circuits...argh!   24 hours in a day is ....just....not .....enough.
