I've always been too fat to play Les Pauls I did have a nice 'burst Classic once and a custom Gilet 'burst but my stomach got in the way I love the look of the minihumbucker on the black I'm thinking about a Warmoth L5-S with minihumbuckers I just think mini's look cool and sound great...i'd get Antiquities
Even though I'm fat, I'm still jealous though....awesome collection!
I'm a fat guy too, and i've always played em

the clean channel on the BM can get pretty aggressive when pushed. It really takes on the tweed side of its personality in a big way, especially if it is biased hot. You may wanna check the bias. Also, turn the bass down a bit, and turn the presence up, which will help tighten it up. also, mine sounds better with the deep switch on when pushed like that. sounds counter intuitive, but it seems to work

Hi guys, I've finally got my cash-flow together and just made payment to Nik on my BM with mods plus wgs speaker with 1x12 cab.
Cannot wait!
Will post a review on how it tracks along
Yer gonna love it! I find i love mine more and more everyday. I finally got my Dano going again (needed a new bridge pup) and i have decided that one of the most magical sounds in the world is a Dano DC 59 with flatwounds through a BM. the clean took my breath away and the OD was mindblowing. I've never been so taken back by an amp before, and it just seems to get better with age!! Keep us posted on your progress! Gregg

Since it was never mentioned in this thread, just what speakers is the OP using?
While I agree for the most part with everything Homesick is saying, I will say that my HRM50 is like no other amp I've played. The interaction between all gain stages is not like other tube amps. The OTS in some ways is not a two channel amp, but a cascading of clean gain stages into the OD stages with the master volume.
Indeed. The heart of the D-Style design is a cascading gain setup. this especially evident in the non hrm models, as there is only one master and the ratio is used to dial more or less of the OD sound into the final mix. Very different than the standard preamp/ master setup. The OTS will remain fairly clean when pushed hard, in other words, if setup properly, the output section should remain fairly neutral. The BM is a lil different due to the PI setup, and two master volumes, however that is another story. My lil BF princeton had a crude switchable cascade gain feature which worked very similarly to the D Style OD. Gregg

IMO VVR is not really needed on OTS type amps, as their very design incorporates a very good MV system.
Now on something like a tweed amp on the other hand...

Don't tell anyone, but Nik is an android, sent from the future to craft handbuilt tube amps for those of us who have the not so deep pockets

And then there's something like this done with a freaking POD. We are here all concerned about tube amps and specific gains on clean channels and this guys is recording a digital modeler direct into an iPhone. Sounds pretty good IMO. But actually more important the guy is a pretty good player or atleast practiced. http://youtu.be/a0bjIdUo0D0Exactly!!!! Sometimes technique can make all the difference. I have always said that SRV and Jimi would sound just like themselves on a squier strat through a solid state crate practice amp.

Hi folks, My fm 50 me kit 2 and D/lator kit has arrived delivery time was quick about 2 weeks, unfortunately i'm interstate so i cant check out the goodies inside the boxes [ very frustrating ] k Nick is a very helpful chap in helping me make up my mind which one to order ! his reply's were so quick i don't think i had even finished typing my question. This will be my first amp build i will be taking my time with the build, thanks to the wealth of knowledge people contribute on this forum i feel confident it will all go well.
Ordered a couple of speakers from wgs an et 65 and veteren 30 not bad prices and postage costs to Australia as speakers a quite expensive here, plan on building 212 dumble style cabinet. Cant wait to get home and start the build and asking lots of questions i hope not to many, just fair warning in advance.
Sweet! enjoy it!

Based on that and some of your other posts, it sounds like you won't be happy until you get the Two Rock. So, why not get the Two Rock?
Without making any assumptions about the nudefush11, the "why" may be evident. Two Rocks aren't cheap, I believe the Custom Reverb that the Mayer Sig was based on starts at $5500 for the head. But sometimes you really need buy what will satisfy you. Obviously, another clean option would be the SSS Ceriatone is getting ready to release. Very true on all counts. An SSS and a good fuzz and rolled back volume would defintely get the Hendrix Little Wing tone.
