Ceriatone / Overtone / Do not accept money to cut queue
|
on: April 30, 2008, 04:07:45 PM

Hi,
This is to mention that we do not accept extra money so that wait time is shorter.
Your cash is as green as the next dude.
If God comes and ask to cut queue, I guess I'd say no as well. He can blast me to smithereens, but the way the world is currently, I am not sure he remembers where he put his magic wand.
Sorry, but having to reply to this same question day in and day out, I have to mention this here.
Thanks!
Nik

Ceriatone / Overtone / Out of Pink Tolex

Hi,
We're out of pink tolex and will not have pink tolex anymore.
Thank you.
Nik
Read - We sell tone at very affordable prices. It is not in our interest to offer candy colors, or snake skin nor oil, with the amps. We try to make the cabs as nice as we can, but as Ford said it " You can have any color as long as it's black".
There is just no time for that.
Thank you.

Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: 1/2 power switch

Hey man... First and foremost, thats the whole point - the amp made available to a wider audience. As for 1/2 power, I really dont think it's needed. The MV works quite well on this amp. And you can indeed get lots of varieties of tones, it can get confusing at times (have those small note books ready to record the settings). As for setting - The amp can have quite a large head room. Trick is not to max master, with vol up. OD can be set with the Level and Ratio controls. I think it's easy to set it to the desired levels between cleans and OD. TWeak it to taste with the other tone switches (my footswitch is only OD and PAB. Now I see why it's good to also footswitch everything. Perhaps I will do the "Artiste Footswitch" - note the spelling is with "e" at the end . I'm rambling...I will now go to sleep! Thanks! Nik

Hello, and Happy New Year.
Hope the new year ushers in more prosperity, and happiness to all.
Yes, sure you can.
Why not, I can't simply say no to the 600 or so emails for this amp. It's bad for my heart.
Im doing this by stage. If it gets unmanageable again, I will hold until shipments clear.
Wait time is 6-8 weeks. Production of the amp is no longer time consuming, the guys can do it eyes closed now. But cabinet comes in trickles of 3 or so per week...
Anyways, it's more enjoyable when it's quiet. Gives me time to think and work on other things as well.
Thanks!
Nik
Thanks!
Nik

British Style / Plexi Lead, Bass, Superlead / Re: super lead 100 watt vs. 1987 lead 50 watt
|

Hi,
The Super Lead vs the 1959, I dont think direct comparison is that valid. It's just not the same.
The Super Lead has a different type of mojo. It's not overly bright, and it does have a bit of compression/sagging going.
In any case, easy mods for the brightness issue.
It's almost a quandary - consider this:
Most people who can afford good tube amps could be in their young (hey!) 30s or 40s. And, probably, with many years of pounding music and other assorted vices. It is almost a given that this group would like a bit of bright. And the brightness could offend ones with lesser or no impairment to hearing.
Could be far fetched but here I have an old timer who does amps as well. And often times, his amps are way bright even for me (I test amps on daily basis).
So, in a way, it can be viewed as a "target market" type of thing? Heh...
Note to self: Bright switch selector in the "coffee maker" Plexi amp (Plexi with all sorts of mods so I dont have to drill plates and chassis anymore!)
Thanks!
Nik

Hi If making head for the BB, you can actually use the small box plexi head cab. Dims are 26 x 8.25 x 10.5" The only thing different would be the front and back panel cutout, which are longer than the standard 16.5". I think 18 or 18.5" would suffice. I cant recall right now, but it isnt hard to measure and you dont need to be super accurate. As long as the controls and wordings clear, and you dont exceed the length of plates, itd be fine. As for tolexing - geez, I wish I know. Thats why I have my cab guy for it! LOL! But I remember cursing the bejesuz out of him initially. But it wasnt long before he could do it. Thanks! Nik

John,
Hi!
Cool! Thats great man!
Was this a problem with the preamp tubes? Yeah, we have switched all to Tungsol 12AX7s now. What a shame for the JJ ECC83s..
Thanks!

Cool!
I have always loved the Vibrochamp!
Indeed, the trem on that one is real nice. I dont think many can beat that. Except for the '62 brown vibrolux I foolishly let a friend buy, instead of buying myself. Duh!
To this day, I cant seem to replicate the trem on that vibrolux.
Oh yeah, thats because I havent made the vibrolux! LOL!
Soon!
Thanks!

Tw Clones / LiverPull / Re: Bass controlling volume??

Hi
For the TWs, the tone controls do affect volume.
Try putting em on 0.
You will see that there wont be volume at all, even if volume is upped.
Thanks!

Hello,
It's way late but here goes:
The 1/2 power switch on the amp is just like the one in DC30.
It takes out, and also change the cathode resistor value.
Thanks!

Heya,
Hehe...
Been meaning to do 5F2 Princeton but my email to production with the layout and info was forgotten, and I forgot too. Darn, that was a year ago!
I looked at it today, and thought it'd be nice to make it as 5F1 + 5F2 in a single amp, switchable.
Good, bad? Nah, just like 2 bucks worth of parts to make it so, lets go!
Boy, emails go down on christmas and I can actually look at things and think! LOL!
Thanks!

British Style / 20 Watt Lead, Bass / Re: Building a 20W Lead & Bass
|
on: December 25, 2007, 06:20:21 PM

Heya all,
Cool!
Weird...as soon as I made the first 20W L&B, I thought..hmm..what? To me, it doesnt have as much gain as the 18W TMB, and since I dont play with pedals, thats a bit of a letdown.
Thing is, I made the plates first before offering the amp. I thought they'd never sell, but we're already on 3rd run of plates!
If one dont need that much distortion, and want to color the tones with pedals, it'd be a cool amp.
It's also so small, chicks think it's cute! LOL!
I think it's a blessing in disguise, since I am coming up with several new amp models using the same chassis and cab, or same sized chassis. The small size would make good for single EF86 channel amp, or other very tone-specific type of projects.
Thanks!
Nik
