Hi guys
can you plzz explain how to bias the power amp tubes on the OTS. I juist got a set of Sovtek 5881's. On the box it says 38mA
I do have a multimeter
http://www.soundex.nl/productenCategorieSub.asp?prodCategorieSubID=-430666581

but I think it only does Volts and Ohm. plus the pins are very thin. I tried sticking them in the the 3 points next to and in the middle of the power tubes but there was no consistent reading. maybe I need to get another model? Or stick 'm elsewhere ;-)

thanks!!

hi Erwin

my Kleinulator is up and running again. I'll come by one of these days so we can compare.
Cheers

Provided the band hasn't fallen out and split by then of course, sometimes it looks imminent !!.
That's because you play so loud :-)

Hi again from The Hague in Holland

My Tele with Kinmanns sounds awesome. My (mex) Strat with Texas specials not super. My Hamer with Seymore Duncan '59 bit of a mixed bag. It can get fairly close to Robben I feel. The biggest challenge is changing from one guitar to the other without to much tweaking.

tnx
I changed a few things (power tubes to Winged C). This amp is had to set up. also my Klein was broken. It's now repaired and I'm strugling to get my sounds together. My tele always sounds good though.
Cheers

Hi Guys
Last week my OTS was modded a bit (1/2 power switch and OD trimmer on back pannel).
It has left me a bit confused.
If you turn the trimmer al the way down does that kill the sound alltogether?
if you turn the trimmer up you get more distortion right?
262  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Upgrading the Choke? on: December 15, 2008, 10:33:02 AM
Hi Dave. Yeah looks easy enough (although I keep away from soldering irons myself) but will it make a difference?
263  Ceriatone / Overtone / Upgrading the Choke? on: December 15, 2008, 08:32:44 AM
Hi Guys

I read a post on the amp garage forum about changing the Choke of the OTS.
"The Ceriatone choke - seen on the photo below - just does have a DC resistance of 30 ohms and an inductivity of about 1.5H - after I've swapped in a Fender choke (022699) w/ a DC resistance of ~100 ohms and an inductivity of about 4H the amp's sound has been much more organic, smoother - the previous rawness almost was gone."

What do you think?  Would it be worthwhile?

Hi

Have you built your Kleinulator to the latest soecs?
There has bee a small addition to prevent tthe unit from blowing up.
I don't know the technical details but it includes a Zener (whatever that may be)

Nice!
266  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Getting that "Larry" tone on: November 11, 2008, 08:21:49 AM
No it doesn't sound strange, although I don't quite inderstand yet ;-)
might be what I'm looking for
I don't care much for the popping attack
what kind of pre amp tubes are you using?
Cheers
Steven

hi

define splatty please :-)

I ask because I'd love my OTS to have a little less punch (I find the the typical in your face Twin sound a bit harsh).

Cheers

Only 1 pitch shifter on the xpression

this seems an interesting aproach

How many Reverbs do you need?  Just one that sounds good ;-)

I hate chorus so I don't use it, instead I use pitchshift +4% and -4% this gives a more natural
chorus where the sweepfrequency varies with the played pitch.
2 Voice Chorus are two modulated delay lines, gives a bigger chorus sound.
Original Intellifex has an 8 Voice Chorus...

Programming is easy, just need to scroll a lot. There are PC-editors to make this easier.

Hi Dave
Wouldn't you need a stereo pitch shifter to do that?

I think there's no PC editor for the Xpression.
270  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Rocktron Xpression Update on: October 31, 2008, 08:07:18 AM
a short review

Pros:
Analog dry signal!! The dry signal goes straight to the output. Only the wet signal goes through the A/D converter and FX processor. No tone suck!
you don't need a Kleinulator to get enough signal from your fx loop.
output -10/+4dB
effects are good quality
quiet
did I mention the analog dry signal

Cons:
Programming is a pain in the ***
hardly any decent presets
only 1 reverb
what the f*** is 2 voice chorus?

Steven
