Hello, How are you all? This is a note that we're having a sale for DC30 in about a months time. So dont buy the amp now The sale is only for Pack 4, with head cab. We are also having a sale of our 2x12 ext. cab with G12H + Vintage 30, would be great for those who live in countries near to us. Please watch out for an official announcement on the ceriatone website. The sale is basically to: a) Introduce the DC30 amp in its new name, the Dizzy30 (is this taken ) b) Taking advantage of the "fastest growing thread ever" on TGP on this great amp. 40 pages in 2 days! Its since been taken down, it was running the TGP server too hot! (Bias it colder, mister!) c) To help with the current economic situation Current DC30 owners, dont fret! You will be entitled to some discount (to be announced) for new purchases during the sale! Yay! So get ready, start saving! Thanks! Nik

Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: How can I have one in Argentina

Hi
Indeed shipment to Argentina is high for some reason.
If you have friends in UK, etc, it'd be cheaper to ship there although payment wise, we cant accept credit card or paypal if item's to ship to another location than the payment info.
Thanks!
Nik

Hello guys, You guys do like to tempt me huh? Anyone checked out the Hilden ODS on ebay? I think it sounds great, much more fendery than OTS. I think it's early 80s with fender values (still has accent knob). Maybe I'll do that version too. Hey, I'll do a free amp to anyone who can give me the MOST complete detail for SSS. This includes chassis/hole sizing info (CAD would be great), schemos, layouts, original pics, etc, and can consult/teach if I see something weird. Any takers? THanks! Nik

Ceriatone / Overtone / New Wait Times
|
on: September 28, 2008, 06:50:25 PM
|
Hello all,
How are you guys? Hope all is good.
I am happy to announce that wait times will be reduced soon.
We are entering a 1 week break come Monday 29th Sept. and will come back after 1st week October.
I did some some checking and most likely, wait times for overtones (OTS and HRMs) will be shorter than the current 11-12 weeks.
Wait time will be about 8 weeks or so for completes.
We are better stocked now in terms of components, and builders are getting better and faster.
This will not apply to 100V (Japan) amps, as we still order the 100V PTs on as-needed basis. I will try to stock up on 100V PTs as well so that we can have em done faster.
Right now, the pattern of order is holding, ie about same average since early this year. This will not be valid if we have a surge, will update if we do.
Thanks!
Nik

Hi, Yes, screws are provided to cover the holes. I just dont see a point for 1/2 power switch on the overtone. Perhaps my ears are in their golden years (heh). We do install on request, however. Thanks! Nik also are there supposed t obe plugs for the unused switches on the back? thanx

Hi Chris,
I guess so.
And I guess the DIY part of me made the problem worse.
ie, I was expecting people to know what the components are from the pics on my website (we do show em, Id like to think).
With more non DIY clients, I guess they wont indeed know about these things.
I can put a note on the website.
But it'd boil down to people believing my words.
If they do not know what a Sprague PS is, then what's stopping the Dark Side from saying to them "all Ceramic discs would give the tone"?
I would still be subject to the psychological effects of the low prices I offer.
Perhaps I should bling all my amps.
"Pimp my Amp!"
Thanks!
Nik

Hi, Surprisingly, the HRM is a bit easier, tone wise, to my ears, without much ado (remember that time, chris? ) I am finding the OD tonestack's bass need to be set pretty low, otherwise the bass does overpower the thing. About 150K on the trim, specifically. The OD for rock is right on. To remember a post I saw a long long time ago: " Guess what HRM stands for!?" On mine, it Say His Royal Majesty. With the capital letters made much bigger so no mistake it's H.R.M. hehe. Thanks! Nik The 120 in normal mode, and 120 + 180 = 300pf seems like a good idea.
That sounds like the more sensible approach i reckon... Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly are the sound differences between the standard and HRM models?? I guess what Im trying to say is tone wise, what does HRM try to achieve?? The Overtone as it is now is refered to as a non-HRM. Non-HRM tend to have more singing, sweeter and sustaining lead tone and are generally a little easier to play. HRM amps are more for the touch players but the tones are more complex. That said, there is a lot of crossover possibility with what the HRM is based on...Bluesmaster or Skyliner tone stack, preamp plate values, OD entrance, 6L6's or EL34's,...... I'd go HRM for rock and non-HRM for the fusion stuff but that's generalizing too much because the players style is a huge factor in deciding which one is better for any given situation.

Hi
Indeed, hi gain stuff is something we need to go into.

Thanks!

Chris I will do Copper String Singer. Platinum version in the works Seriously, not yet. The overtone and the hrm will be the 2 from this side of things. I need to move on to other genres, its getting to be kinda routine here. Thanks! Nik Hey Nik,
You just keep giving us headaches over how we'll afford all these amazing amps you keep turning out don't you!!
Any plans for a Steel String Slinger based model in the future??

Chris, Should post layout soon. Not BM. No dropping to simulate FET, yet. I kinda like it as it is altho I can try that easily as well. I guess it's just regular garden variety HRM? Thanks! Nik Hey Nik, HRM...ya, I need some nasty.....I am a strat player after all. So, BM?? Skyliner?? Plate values?? Pre OD values?? Dropping string 180k in place FET?? specs man....specs..

Hi Thanks guys, thats great! On one hand, it is kinda assuming to expect people to know more about the insides and components of tube amps. Some do just want to play the guitar. But on the other, I believe that with more knowledge, people can make better decisions. However, more knowledge isnt that easy. Just a casual try can lead people into hypes, misunderstandings, and such. I guess, in the end, a semi-serious-but-kinda-casual way of learning should be the way for all. I mean, some of the guitar gods around do know their stuff, gear wise. In any case, I am not saying we are the best in terms if components. There are others who use the same stuff, these things are available. Or some go to higher extent of exotic parts. The proof is in the pudding, I guess. As is the case with Gramma's german chocolate cake recipe, the one granny bakes for free for you could be nicer than any a german chef can bake. Or you really hate granny and her cake, and dont eat german chocolate cake on principle. At the end, I guess if it's right, then it's correct. Thanks! Nik

Hi
The cleans are pretty nice, actually, which is surprising.
As for the issue, ie the bright cap -
I think it'd be nicer if by default (normal mode) that some value of bright is there.
The bright cap not only adds brightness, but some dimension/hair to the sound, which I like.
The 120 in normal mode, and 120 + 180 = 300pf seems like a good idea.
Thought of using 3 way switch, but the slot for the toggle has been taken by the Deep, Mid boost, and Rock/Jazz.
As usual, I am reusing the overtone chassis for the HRM model as well.
Thanks!
Nik
