I look forward to your thoughts. Though it is very cheap compared to a TR here in the UK and I know it has buffered effects and reverb, it would have to be a lot better than a Ceriatone for me to be tempted.

I have to say there were times in the OD clip when I thought the clipping was a bit harsh almost like a fuzz effect.

I have been debating with myself, not whether to get another OTS variant, just which, and your clips have convinced me that it should be the BM HRM and the 100watt at that. Seriously good tone and very very nice playing.

Thank you.
229  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Used Ceriatone OTS - how to tell if it was built by Ceriatone? on: January 12, 2010, 10:02:40 AM
Don't think you can other than by comparing the quality of the build with the photos of Niks handiwork.
230  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Cranky OTS 100 on: January 10, 2010, 01:04:23 PM
If you plug into the FET channel V1 is out of circuit I think so changing that valve will have no effect. Don't think you can plug into both.

FET  channel is intended as an acoustic input so best ignore that. Plug into V1 set the internal OD trimmer to get the sound you like (most people set it it 9:30 to 11:00 o'clock) . Then OD distortion is governed by the Level control. Be aware that huge distortion is not really this amps forte, but I would consider using a distortion pedal on the clean channel as this channel takes pedals really well.

231  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Newbie build with what will be a series of dumb questions on: December 30, 2009, 12:15:58 AM
The impedance selector has one tab that connects sequentially to the other three, if in doubt use your multimeter to figure out which is the common (centre tab).

The '100w transformer (which is the choke)' is a confusing description. The choke has only two wires and looks like a transformer but isn't. The actual transformers all  have at least 4 wires. If you are referrring to the choke (2 wires) then yes it does not matter which way round you connect it.

Hey Hywell, that looks like Larry’s amp (bluesmaster with flexiplex OD) which I’ve played when he was in London.
It had an enormous bass response and pretty mild overdrive. I’m not surprised Matt has turned bass down and OD up.

Yes thats the one.
233  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Overtone Soundclips on: December 27, 2009, 06:58:34 PM

The mods in the amp are: Skyliner EQ, Made to sound not as bright as the orig. BM.
The OD side was made to sound more like the standard HRM as opposed to the BM OD.

Would be good if you could if you could mark up your changes on Niks layout drawing and post it in this thread http://ceriatoneforum.com/index.php?topic=28.0. Its a great aid for others wishing to tweak component values and is especially useful when there are sound clips to accompany the mods.

Thanks

I went to a open mic last night and played. I will do some better video's @ home.
The sound quality is pretty bad,Sorry for the singing.

The clip is kinda shaky too  Embarrassed

Thats a really nice SRV sound you've got there. So different to the OTS. Obviously a strat but pups? what about the speakers?

Afte I've finished my Plexi build, unless Nik brings an AB763 or a Matchless Chieftain model out I will be going for a BM 100. Care to share what mods were done to yours? It suer does sound nice.

This is the Bludo that Matt was using on his last tour. Very different settings to his TR. Each amp will sound different, you just need to find your own settings
236  Muchless / DC 30 / Re: Recommended Attenuator on: December 15, 2009, 09:51:54 AM
I tried my Hotplate with the Dc-30 and it was not good. It works OK with my OTS but not with the DC. I have Powerscaling fitted and that is far, far superior IMO.
237  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Mercury Magnetics PT, OT and choke on: December 13, 2009, 10:53:57 AM
And what was the additional cost for the MMs and in your opinion, was it worth it (assuming you are able to compare the stock magnetics with the MMs)?

I haven't had much time recently so the amp (Plexi 50) isn't even built yet and I won't have chance to A/B it with stock.
238  Muchless / DC 30 / Re: VVR working real good on the DC30 on: December 07, 2009, 07:34:51 PM
Glad you like it. I thought you would be impressed. This PS stuff is becoming much more mainstream now, lots of people doing mods and some amp manufacturers including it.
239  Muchless / DC 30 / Re: Looking forward to building a couple of these on: December 02, 2009, 09:05:21 AM
Yes, not quite sure where from, probably heater supply. You'll guess I didn't install PS myself Grin
240  Muchless / DC 30 / Re: Looking forward to building a couple of these on: November 30, 2009, 11:08:45 PM
I think also that the DC-30 also needs some serious consideration for cooling. Mine has a heatsink and very small fan which thanks fully is almost inaudible. I believe its the same for most cathode biased amps. Fixed bias are eaiser to do aparently.
