Don't quite understand your last remark
you said it bypasses the bass and mids and later you say when you add mids it adds highs??

LOL

Eeverybody always raves about the Winged C's. I didn't care form them much. But I think it has a lot to do with certain batches being better then others. My tech says JJ's are pretty consitant.

Yeah I was refering to the power amp tubes in my last post

For me there was.
I'm using Sovtek 5881 (just like Larry Carlton). Some people love Winged C's. You need to adjust the bias though! That fairly easy by the way. Even I could do it.

Experiment!

Yeash that's it. My Tele sounds just like a Lute
202  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Desperately need some OTS help! (settings) on: April 22, 2009, 01:49:16 PM
I have the same amp and a Klein as well

Single coil pickups?

try this
http://home.kpn.nl/s.scholten17/rig2.jpg
My Klein is the same as a regular one. a frined of mine put it in a 19 inch rack.
Erwin_ve suggested to roll back on the return of the Kleinulator a bit (about 3  oclock). Use the Klein recovery to control your overall volume.

Also there is a pot inside the amp: the OD trimmer. That's an important feature of this amp. You can do a search on the forum and you'll find some usefull info on where to find it and some tips on the settings. I use 9.30

you could also try setting everything on the amp to 5 (12 oclock) and start tweaking to taste from there.

Hope this helps.
oh yeah one last thing. The volume of the clean channel has an effect on the OD channel as well!

Yean my tele sounds best as far as I'm concerned. Close to that guy with the long hair. What;s his name Robin something.

Interesting topic.
I have '59's in my Hamer. I was struggling a bit with these as well. nasty buzzy edge in OD sound and unwanted distortion on the clean channel I had to turn down the clean volume to get a decent tone. I lowered the pickups. That helped a bit. Getting a good balance to use the same setting with a strat or tele is hard.
I'm beginning to suspect my amp has moods. It just doesn't seem to sound the same all the time.
205  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS MFX Recommendations? on: April 22, 2009, 06:54:16 AM
I agree. The Rocktron has this as well ;-)
206  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS MFX Recommendations? on: April 21, 2009, 08:27:30 PM
I had the G Sharp as well. Very nice indeed and very cheap.
there's one thing I didn't like though. You can't programm the overall volume of each patch.
I use that quite a lot to switch from rhythm to lead sounds.
207  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS MFX Recommendations? on: April 21, 2009, 11:52:20 AM
I use a Rocktron Xpression. It has an internal mixer. This lets you mix the direct (analog) signal with the effect (digital). This leaves your precious OTS tone intact as much as possible.

Hey Erwin: cool clip!
209  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: What kind of phase inverter tubes are you using? on: April 16, 2009, 07:09:12 AM
ah ok
I did buy a matched pair. Oh well sounds fine to me :-)
210  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: What kind of phase inverter tubes are you using? on: April 15, 2009, 01:36:20 PM
I use a Sovtek 12ax7LPS. I did notice the bias on my power tubes (matched Sovtek 5881) is  a bit higher and further apart then what it used to be. If I remember correctly bias was around 0.34mA (one slichtly higher) and now the Bias is 36 mA and 38 mA I think.
Is this a problem?
Is the difference caused by the fact that this Sovtek LPS isn't balanced?
