Yes, you got to add a treble bleeder after the HRM tone stack. I have a small circuit, consisting of a 1n capacitor in series with a 150k resistor, added trom the input of the OD master to ground. Easy to mount between pot and bus bar.

Thats a useful one to know. Could you make it easy for us to find again by posting this mod in the Tweaked layout thread since that is a sticky and I for one will be able to find it again if I buy an HRM.

The HRMs can be really bright in OD mode, making it very har to dial in a usefull tone.
If you dial the treble trimmer down, the tone it totally killed.

My solution is adding a treble bleeder after the HRM tone stack. Its really simple.

Wih the treble beleeder added, you can turn up the treble trimmer on the HRM and it will sound nice and full.

Excellent, thanks so much for your help.

That TC unit seems like a great buy.

I'm actually thinking about a 1x12 Avatar open back, with Cele G12-65.

Now I just have to make up my mind - to HRM or not.

This is pretty much my benchmark for Strat tone:

I'm hoping to get in line for my amp at the end of this week!

IMHO, I'd say get a regular OTS, especially if you're using a strat. I found the HRM a bit to trebly even for humbuckers.

Thanks guys! So you'd say the Overtone could be ít?

Not the Overtone Special model!. I'm saying go for a HRM model (50w or 100w) not the OTS.  Wink

But I've heard the Special is the best Overtone to use as a channel switcher? The others have a volume boost when you switch from one channel to the other? I rather switch channels without difference in volume...

Volume difference is not a problem with any of the Amps Overtone amps (Special, HRM or Bluesmaster), since the clean and Overdrive can be set individually.

Where in the UK are you? welcome to come and try mine if you like. I'm in Reading Berkshire.

Now, that the spirit!  Cool

IMO You need a HRM model not the OTS.

The HRM has the same clean channel as the OTS, but the OD is more versatile and can do both solo and crunch rythm a la Billy Gibbons.

The OTS is great for RF soloing, but wont do crunch rythm very well.
187  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Way Huge Aqua Puss in Effects Loop on: February 12, 2010, 01:22:40 PM
No, just keep the send volume so low that you dont overdrive the effects units (easy to hear in clean mode) and you'll be fine.
188  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Your bluesmaster setting on: February 11, 2010, 06:20:08 AM
HRM BM 100w BTW

The Clean on my BM is super fat @ bedroom levels and seems to get fatter when @ gig level. The EQ is set Treble (10:00) Middle (noon) Bass (9:00)

Great info. What are your internal trim tone pots and OD trim pot set at?
189  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Which Overtone is most like Fuchs ODS 30? on: February 10, 2010, 07:34:46 AM
Misty, Here is a video clip of my blues wankery (yospam's expression) with

Fuchs ODS 30 and 2x10 cab. I’m sure that 2x12 or 4x12 would have being much fuller sounding option.
this one is  with OTS 50
and last one with a HRM moded Crate Blue Voodoo

Hi Pickmaster,
Those are nice clips - great playing from you and your mates. That drummer and bass player on the second and third clips really know how to make 'time stand still' There's an abyss betweeen each drum hit. Excellent. And your co-guitarist plays a great rythm guitar on the second clip, where he really places himself nicely in between the bass and drums, which gives great support to any soloist. Impressive. The blues is simple and therefore so tough to make interesting.

About those amps
a) Fuchs - IMO a lovely cremy lead tone - funny though to see a Parker Fly in a blues setting, but why not.
b) OTS - great tone, ..maybe its the guitar pickups, but the lead tone is 'smaller' compared to the other two.
c) Crate has a nice top with great clearity-  different from the fuchs clip (using the same guitar)

In spite of the different recording quality of the three clips. ...with the second one being very well recorded, I would say that the fuchs is focused and 'deep' - helping you melt better in with the backing band. The OTS is a little fuzzy on the low strings - perhaps the bass pot was set a little on the high side. The Crate is perhaps a little more 'forward' in the mix due to the extra top end.

We are taking small details here, that could easily stem from the recording gear used, and variations in  speaker cab, preamp/ poweramp tubes - and off course, guitars.

Hey watch it. This is not the amp garage of TGP. this is a friendly place!

Hey Steven, I totally agree with you, but this new member "yosemitespam" really annoies me. All his posts are provocative and premature. He really spoils the fun. I'll ask Nik to expell him instead.

We usually have a calm and helpfull atmosphere around here.
191  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: UK made D style on: February 08, 2010, 07:28:29 AM

That gives me an idea. I'll start the V=IR amp company. I'll make them in a little shack in Oklahoma, an "Ohm On The Range", so to speak.

Well, if that could make you shut up eventually and keep you too busy to have time left over for insulting people on this forum - then I'm really in favour of that idea  Cool Good luck with you new venture!

Why are your remarks often provokative and premature?? IMO an utterly waster of other forummembers time??

+1 !!!

As in losers.

Nice L6S from the 70s there. I'm sure you need a real Dumble to bring out the tone.

Robben´s Sakashta is not a Japanese LP copy at all. It´s built by one of the finest luthiers in the business and is made in the USA (although Taku Sakashta is indeed japanese). Not that it would matter to me, if it was indeed built in Japan. It does look like a LP, but only on the outside. But I wouldn´t call it a copy, but only inspired by the LP design. There are quite a few differences in the looks. Enough not to be taken for a Gibson, IMHO.

Every part is meticulously chosen. Woods, hardware, electronics. It´s chambered. And built to perfection. It costs around USD 10.000,00. I wished I could afford one.... but it´s way over my budget...

I'm kind of of the opinion solid body guitars shouldn't cost anywhere  near that. Archtop jazz boxes yes, Les Pauls and variations, no. Sorry. Crank up the distortion and one humbucking equipped  guitar sounds awfully similar to the next. Even a Les Paul and an PRS.

Don't get me wrong. If someone wants to donate a '59 Michael Bloomfield Reissue LP, gloss finish, I'd love one. $7300? You kiddin' me?

194  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Trannies: Power/Output/Choke on: February 06, 2010, 07:44:56 AM
By the way, how is a CD player connected?

I use an ol' discman (or IPOD) connected from the headphoneout on the discman to the input of the amp, where I would connect a guitar.
195  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Trannies: Power/Output/Choke on: February 05, 2010, 10:43:44 PM
I ordered my trannies today.
........I should be good to go, just waiting for UPS! Should be here Monday 1/8
Thanks to everyone that helped!

Don't be disappointed when you get the amp assembled...you gotta allow it some burn in time, around 40-100 hours before it 'opens up'. I you don't have time to play the amp connct a CD player instead.

A lot of people have made the mistake to do all kinds of mods to soften the amps sound etc., only to realise that after the burn in period, the amp tone will change somewhat.
