This is so very wrong. You can't say "new Les Paul" without picts.

OK, here you go...

Wow.... I'm not jealous...honest!!

OK
I'm not quite sure what my rig will look like. I have bought a G-sharp for rever/chorus and delay so I guess I'm stuck with a small rack, but not quite sure. Coyld you give me an estimate (PM) on the price of a rack version please?

Thanks
Steven

John Mayer has IMHO a nice arrangement, he has a vertical 2x12" cab, 2U rack unit housing a 1U Dumbleator and a 1U Dumble Solid State Overdrive then his Two Rock head on top of that. That's the arrangement I plan on going for when I finally get my Overtone ordered...

Mike, if you could let me know the price for a Custom Rackmount unit as I would be interested for sure.
168  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: All about my Klein-ulator on: May 22, 2008, 07:29:16 AM
any news on the prodction of the Klenulator? 19 inch rack version. Built in version etc etc?

I've emailed both Nik and Mike, with regards to building my own rack version of it from the standard unit and, whilst I obviously can't speak on their behalf,  neither has mentioned any plans to produce a rack mounted version...though as with all things I suppose if demand is there then Nik might consider doing something, but I'd bet that most people would be happy with the stand-alone unit.
169  American Style / 5E7 BandMaster / 5E7 equivalent to Victoria 35310? on: May 20, 2008, 03:41:53 PM
I was doing a search on Google to try and see if anyone builds a Vibro King clone and found several references to the Victoria 35310 as having a very similar clean sound to the Vibro King. I then read that the 35310 is based on a 5E7 circuit which got me to thinking...

Does the Ceriatone 5E7 circuit sound similar (assuming speakers etc the same) as a Vicky 35310?

At the same time, how close does it come to the cleans from a Vibro King?

Would a 5E7 3x10" combo paired with a 2x12" extension cab be a good combination?

And finally, how hard would it be to fit the Ceriatone 5E7 circuit in a Fender Blackface style cabinet with the control panel on the front?
170  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: A Vertical 2x12 for the Overtone (schematics request) and Speaker Choice on: May 19, 2008, 07:53:40 PM
Hello everyone,

It's my first post (and topic !) on the ceriatone forum.

I'm currently waiting for a Overtone Special too (should come in 2 weeks I hope).

I'm actually looking for a 2x12 vertical speaker cabinet for the Overtone.

I've check a lot of builder here in Europe but there is nothing, and Two Rock, Fuchs etc are too much expensive for me.

I'm now looking for plan and schematics of a vertical 2x12 Two Rock type like this one :

or this one

If you can help to choose the best speaker for my utilisation of the Overtone it would be great.

I'm lookin for John Mayerish tone, with warm and sparkle fenderish clean, and smooth lead and I'm mainly using Stratocasters.

Thanks a lot

Regards

Nathan

Nathan,

Welcome, sounds like you're looking for exactly the same thing as me, just you're a little further down the road than me.

Whereabouts are you cos I've been talking with a few builders here in the UK who might be able to build what you're looking for.

Speakers-wise, from what I've read the Eminence Red White & Blues might be a good choice, I've also been recommended the EV12L Classic... G12-65's are a popular choice, but I think I read something about them lacking some sparkle, so they might not be the best choice for the John Mayer tones you (and I as it happens) are chasing...

I've listened to pretty much most of the clips up on here and am convinced that an Overtone will be my next amp.

I would be interested to know whether anyone has had the chance to compare it to a Two Rock though. Especially the modded OTS clean sounds versus the legendary Two Rock clean sounds...

Anyone got both?
172  American Style / 5E7 BandMaster / Re: 5E7 3x10 on: May 19, 2008, 03:21:29 PM
Please post soundclips! That looks real nice. I've been interested in the 5e7,5f4 5e5 amps for some time. Or maybe mention when you play in skåne...

+1 on request for sound clips...
173  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: overtone sounds on: May 16, 2008, 07:48:16 PM
Welcome to the forum...

There's quite a lot of clips already posted of the Overtone being played with various guitars and styles. There's also a few threads with mods people are performing on their OTS.

I haven't placed my order yet, but I'm certain that the Overtone is the amp for me...never realised I was searching for that Robben Ford sound until I stumbled onto the Overtone as an affordable alternative to a Two Rock and read plenty of posts about his tone...
174  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: 1/2 power switch on: May 16, 2008, 03:04:20 PM
The original style 50/100 switch is easy to implement. Basically, the switch passes the cathode current of two tubes through a resistor and a LED. This lights up the LED (50W indicator) and shuts off two tubes. Here is a schematic : http://ceriatoneforum.com/index.php?topic=201.msg3135#msg3135

So would a 100w Overtone running on 50W via the 50W switch, sound/perform the same as a pure 50W Overtone?
175  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Speakerchoice for my OTS on: May 16, 2008, 02:10:53 PM
Has anyone tried the Celestion Neodynium G12 Century Vintage speakers?

Any thoughts on how they'd sound in a 2x12" with the Overtone?
176  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: 1/2 power switch on: May 16, 2008, 01:37:28 PM
you'll need a mass 100 with a 50w amp.
does nik sell a 100w version of the overtone?

I think I heard a rumour...  Grin

I'd still go for the 50W though, I don't think I play big enough venues to justify a 100W amp...though I'd be interested to hear how it sounds compared to the 50W at the same volume...
177  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Speakerchoice for my OTS on: May 14, 2008, 05:50:56 PM
Just to clear something up, is the G1265 that everyone keeps mentioning, the Celestion Heritage G12-65?
178  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: My OT build on: May 12, 2008, 05:29:42 PM
hywegl, you have mail...
179  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: can you adjust the trimmers with the amp on? on: May 12, 2008, 05:28:08 PM
I can't see why not myself but i thought i better ask the more knowledgeable before i potentialy blow something up.

Or yourself up...!!
180  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Head shell for sale on: May 12, 2008, 12:25:12 PM
My original plan was to make two head shells and cover one in black and one in blonde to see which I liked. Problem was, when I actually got to think about it, if I liked the blonde then I'd have to recover my 4x10 in blonde, then I'd have to recover my 5w SE to match. So I got sensible.

So I now have two covered in black, one of which is available. PM me if interested. I'm in the UK

I might be, depends on price - I'll PM you now...
