Hey Nik, what size (or type) of pcboard do you use (or can we use) in the overtone amp?  I wanted to  try and make one myself before  getting the whole amp later in the future.  just a little scrap project i wanted to try, that's all

Hey Mark,

Build is looking good.  Got any of that perfboard left........buddy ol pal?  I can't seem to find any these days.  A customer wants an 18 watter with perf and I want to build a "wreckish" amp with some.

Thats just the red fiberglas swirl.  You can get the real stuff from cerrem.  His email is: cerrem@excite.com
Tell him that Mark from Louisiama recommended him.

Here is a pic of the board I got from cerrem

what's the size of that perfboard?  and did you just have the caps and such lying around?  I'm thinking about jump starting on the wiring to this part of the amp before i have enough money to get the chassis and such.

edit: woops, i meant the Overtone 50w Amp btw.

does anyone info on this? Sad

OK just for the record...

I played my Overtone next to SF Twin Reverb, next to DRRI and my moded 5E3.

I always wanted a Twin but 'cause it's such a heavy animal I always decided against it. Once I heard my Overtone next to that Twin my Twin GAS stoped right there. Does it sound just like Twin, no it doesn't but it's close enough if you ask me.
Regarding Tweed Deluxe sound the story is similar. With the deep switch on and some tone stack tweaking you can get close. Just for the record, I'm using a Greenback with my 5E3 and a G12-65 with my Overtone. The difference is still there, 5E3 is much more focused and a mid hump is a little different but hey, sound is in the fingers isn't it.

 Grin

that's just great to hear. weeeeee i'm soo looking forward to saving up money for that.

then  can someone give the proper answer to it then instead of saying "wait until you get the amp" because i certainly won't be getting the amp unless i get that information straight to the point.

does this amp at least emulate what a BF Twin Reverb glassy clean sounds like? Smiley

And guys I didn't want this thread to turn into a slinging match any more than all of you, but when my motives are called biased and malicious im not just going to sit there and cop it, because its really not what I'm about...

erwin thanks for the suggestions, i will try my best but dont know how successful ill be Tongue

yea, i'm kind of wondering how it would sound through a different kind of playing style too.

What do you want to know?

how was it on the cleans compared to the TR?  aren't the TRs that he has similar to JM's, too?   i saw one of his videos here

sounded very nice.

i've signed up for the IGF Matt Schofield week long workshop in Bath so I'm hoping I will get a chance to try his TR and I might well take my OTS and see what the differences are. I'll keep you posted.

What's the word on this?
26  Ceriatone / Overtone / Anyone own an Overtone in California? on: June 15, 2008, 10:53:17 PM
Hey everyone, i found some interests in the ceriatone's OTS for quite a while now, but it's been impossible for me to find a place that has one.  I'm in the San Diego area, and was wondering if anyone around there has an  overtone that i could maybe check out to get a feeling of how it is.  MAybe anywhere in NorCal or SoCal really, just so i can at least check out how nice this amp is.

really appreciate it!
