16  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Does the OTS have a 'break in' period on: September 13, 2008, 04:29:19 PM
Somewhere in the Forum-someone suggested leaving it on for a few days. Does it matter if it is on standby?  And does this burn in the tubes or the amp itself?

New here, and about to order an overtone, have any of you guys ab'd one with other D*mble clones or maybe an original? And which speakers match up well? Greg.

Check out www.tubenexus -There is an article comparing 5 D-style amp speaker. As for me -I like the celestion G12-65 reissue. Grin

21  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: post your entire rig on: September 03, 2008, 07:08:03 PM
nice.... i'm planning to use mine with a tc electronics G-System... the guys over at tc electronics tell me that by using a 'breakout box' the din connector of the footswitch can be converted into relays so i can assign the switches to buttons on the G-Sys. Hopefully it'll work!!

How do you find the Two Rock Cabs with the amp?

Also wats that on top of the Overtone

The Two Rock cabinets are nice big open sounding cabinets. the unit on top of my OTS is a Mr. Springy reverb -works great with the OTS.

23  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Anyone own a Bludotone amp? on: September 03, 2008, 12:26:58 AM
Jim,
I have read a lot of information on it and have listened to several clips that sound killer. You tube has some posted as well as the Bludotone website.

Pickmaster-thanks for the information as well as the great picture. You have the best looking overtone cabinet I have seen. Cool

I have been looking at one of these and wondered how they compare to the Ceriatone OTS.  I noticed that Larry Carlton is playing them at some gigs.
25  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: different tubes on: August 30, 2008, 01:43:45 AM
I must say that I was a little dissapointed when I first got my Overtone.  Afterall, I had waited 13 weeks and mine did not sound like any of the clips I had heard. Little did I know that they all require some fine tuning. However, that is also what makes them great amps. They can be tweaked to your liking.   I would suggest that anyone wanting to change their tone to try different preamp tubes. Huge difference!!!! I wanted cleans so I change all of them to EH Ay7. This created great cleans but not enough grind on the OD. One thought was to turn up the internal trimmer but decided against this. After reading a lot of information I decided to set the trimmer on 10. So in doing so I need to change more tubes. Now V1 has tung-sol 12ax7 ,V2 has 5751 and V3 has EH Ay7. Now it sounds killer and I am considering changing the JJ power tubes to SED 6l6GC. Many thanks to all of you who have guided me in my tone quest. It will never be over but I am getting closer everyday

26  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Amp Light on: August 29, 2008, 08:04:15 PM

I got this from Nik-

As for the pilot light, I think best to just get a new assembly. Not sure where you can get the blue lens.

Anything meant for 6.3V AC operation, with hole size for about 0.3125" (5/16) will do?

Let me know.

Thanks!

Nik

Where can I find a different color pilot light for my OTS?
28  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Getting a smoother sound on: August 27, 2008, 01:57:29 AM

Thanks for clearing that up!
29  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Getting a smoother sound on: August 27, 2008, 12:27:28 AM

Jake- if you lower it from 330 to 220 does that make it smoother or just lower the gain?
