Marin...you're a badass!!! Would you mind sharing that backing track?..I want to try to post some more clips this week. I'm swapping out my OD drive tube.
Also, I've been curious how you are recording your video and audio? Are you miking the amp and running it into a video/audio editing program? All I've ever been able to do is record with my kodak digital camera in video mode...but It doesn't have any way to use anything other than the crappy built in mic for audio. I have a little pro tools rig, but really no way to sync up video from a video camera.
Thanks for all your help...and your awesome clips!!!

I'm going to be trying a TAD select (JJ) tube in the overdrive section, and mess around with the trimmer a bit...after that, i might use a different snubber cap to tame a little of the highs on the OD.... anyone done any of this???
rock on,
jeff

Welcome! I'm loving mine....but I'm still trying to dial in the overdrive tone a little more...I think we're about 90-95% there...But I'm pretty picky!
I will say that the amp likes humbuckers a little more for the overdrive tones, but the cleans are gorgeous with just about any guitar. I have not used the effects loop yet, but will eventually need to put a delay in there, and possibly some reverb...I'll cross that bridge when I get there...right now, the tones are so nice, I haven't missed effects!!!!
Let us know when you guys get your amps!
If anyone here needs help getting a new Gibby...I'm a dealer and will give you an unbelievable deal!!! (I'm just not allowed to talk about that...)

Hey guys...you're probably not going to believe this....but I went back and watched the clip that I posted again, and realized that particular clip was my Peavey classic 30 head. I was comparing the 2 side by side and recorded several clips....my favorite ones were the overtone run clean with the reverend drivetrain pedal, and straight into the Peavey Head on the drive channel. I'm going to work some more this week and post more clips. I'm having computer problems, and my computer keeps freezing when I try to record into pro tools, so my only way to get the clips up is to play the backing tracks through my powered monitors and set my cheap kodak digi camera in between the monitors and my amp to try to get a decent mix. The mic on the camera is crappy, but you can still hear how the amp sounds (and how rusty my playing is)
Once again, I'm glad to be working through this stuff with you guys in this forum. Thanks for everything!
-Jeff

Yes, I've tried it with several different guitars....the first guitar I tried it with was a vintage style strat with vintage reissue pickups...the overdrive sounded horrible and i was very disappointed. I kept an open mind and kept tweaking, and tried it with several other guitars. The cleans sound great with all the guitars, but the overdrive really sounds best with humbuckers (in my opinion). I am liking the amp more and more every day, but I think there could probably be a pretty simple and minor mod to the overdrive circuit that would give it that extra "something" that's missing. I really think it has to do with taming the highs and accentuating certain mid frequencies. Hell, what do I know? I've been chasing the "perfect" tone for over 25 years, and have owned over 50 really nice amps and have really high expectations from anything based on a dumble design. Is Nik reading these threads, and could he chime in? I really appreciate all the input from everyone here, and enjoy being a part of this!

I TOTALLY agree with you...SPM has absolutely nailed the tone I want from the amp... I haven't been able to get his settings... I have tried rolling all the treble off...as i usually don't play with very much anyway, and have played with the mids when the OD is engaged, but it seems as if the tone controls do almost nothing when using the OD... so, I'm thinking it has to do with getting the ratio and overdrive set right and the internal trimmer set right. SPM? are you around? ? HELP!!!!
