a 45 is typically just above 30 watt at the point of breakup and ca 50w at full volume. a 50 would be 40-50 and 80-90 respectively

retube, install 1k screen resistors on v4-5 pin 4 and 6. install 5k6 resistors on pin 5 on v4-5

the second comet fired up without problems. the bias resistor should be increased to 10k though to get the right bias range for 6l6s (not necessary for el34s, it seems)

thats my homemade cab. amp is nik's kit but with original type coupling caps and siemens el34s, tungsram ecc83 (v1), old german ecc83 or american 5751 (v2) and mullard m8137 (v3). I've added shielded from the input to v1 and from v1 to the volume control

adjust the bias. just change the bias resistor if the range is too high or low
