16  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Looking to buy an overtone but you can't make your mind? on: December 26, 2009, 12:44:23 PM
Thanks Boldaslove  good review for anyone going to buy or already have a Overtone HRM , I have had my HRM for 6months now and it just keeps getting better all the time. The internal trimmers T,M,B.for me are hard to set up what are yours, anyones preferred settings ? my biggest problem is getting a good clean sound, with mids set at 10.00oclock but to get the lead sound on OD, I prefer the mids about 2oclock , cant seem to get enough mids with the internal trimmers and I FIND PAB is too much . just have to keep tweaking unless anyone has any suggestions.??
17  Ceriatone / Overtone / MID BOOST MOD on: December 12, 2009, 03:29:26 AM
Hi
This may have been explained before but I cant find details anywhere

I want to disable the PAB as I have no use for it .on my HRM50W, (that I built)

then use the relay  for PAB to switch the mid boost . and possibly the bright cap

This is to allow me to get a clean sound without mids boosted then OD sound with mids boosted.

or is it possible to put an extra relay operated by od channel to switch mid boost when selecting OD . ?

if anyone can help much obliged but I need as much info on how to do this as I struggle to follow the circuit  ie which cables would I short on pab relay to disable pab . then how do I make the pab relay switch the mid boost ?
I have some idea but some one with better knowledge confirms then I feel happier doing mod .

thanks Derek

19  Ceriatone / Overtone / 2speakers and 2 amps in 2x12 on: December 09, 2009, 03:38:33 PM
Hi
got 2x12 openback cab with evm12Land ev sro 12 speaker two great speakers but I have wired them so that I can use two amps with them (dumble clone and marshall jubilee )my question is do I have to build a partition in the cabinet to stop each speaker interacting with the other or will it be alright as is, I prefer the sound of openback cabs
thanks for any replies

HI
the settings I use are presence 4-5 bass 9, mid 7, treble 4, output master 10, lead master 3-4 , input gain 4 for humbucker or 6-7 for single coil
if you check the prevoius thread about 2550 mine is the last clip you will hear those settings . ps reverb or delay in loop greately helps this amp shine also g12m or EVM 12Ls are good. . it will take time to get used to the sound of this amp. good luck.
Oh and jj tubes all the way!!

22  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Fender VM or Supersonic 2x12 Cab with OTS... on: July 10, 2009, 09:32:12 PM
Well
I have just finished my overtone HRM and have been trying out speakers V30. G12M, G12H , EVM 12L and emminence governor (v30clone).
based on what sounds most articulate and least fizz . then THE G12H sounds best followed by evm12L   g12m is good but only 25watts so cutting it close for gigs. v30 and governor to my ears dont suit this amp
as they are very middy. better for rock amps . I also would like to try G12 -65M as this seems favourite amongst Dumble type amp players.

Hi guys
here is a clip of my 50w jubilee. they dont have to be loud to sound good . but they dont record well with camera mics they have a big fat distorted sound but not hi gain. but still has the roar of a jcm 800 IMO they are awesome amps and Niks will be better as PTP wiring! the original jubes have PCBs  I have just finished building an overtone HRM to twin with the jubilee....

29  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Step by step BM HRM build... on: June 19, 2009, 01:58:47 AM
OK
Finished my HRM  Grin really enjoyed the process , but it was a bumpy ride at times due to my inexperience but I seem to have made it.

3 days ago finished all the main board installation and desparate to get to the testing, put in my valves and the very last pre amp valve would not go in   Huh? after further examination found solder in three of the sockets arrgh!! attempt to desolder and ended up melting the socket with solder iron. F_ K  so have ordered new 9 pin socket (CERAMIC) so despondant I tried to forget how close I was to trying out my new amp then brainwave, my Marshall jubilee could supply me with a pre amp socket which I could refit when spare arrives, so back in buisness . fitted same and a FINAL CHECK over revealed 3 faults  my mains socket was on upside down, so live was to neutral, the resistor to speaker jacks was on wrong side and a wire to ground was missing. repaired these and fired her up IT WORKS !! but was very noisy at first but found loose ground at bias tag now ok.  oh yes and foot sw did not work missing ground tag. all in all I am pleased with outcome .  bias at 34 and 40 mv (tubes must be unmatched) 480V plate voltage at 6L6 .TUBES.

SO WHAT do the internal trimmers do ?
                                    Cheers Derek
I will post pic and clip at some point once my jubilee is sorted.

Hi GUYS
Here are some pics of my HRM 50 ,work in progress, could you guys have a quick look to see if there are any UN-deliberate mistakes so far, as next I will be putting boards in , thanks to MCINKU for his useful thread , although I have to be careful that I do not end up with a BM instead of HRM LOL  Grin  I appreciate any feed back as this is my first ever build
