Ok
well it will give me a good idea what to expect which is nice.
The RC booster is versitile. I could use for other stuff as well. Right now I use it to pump up the volume when I use my 2 and 4 (in between) pickup settings on my Strat. give a bit more top end and volume. which is nice.

Hi Pickmaster
I was wondering if your mod (3. Removing useless PAB and incorporated true BOOST which does not change tone, just gain) would basicly sound the same as using a clean booster (I just got a Xotic RC Booster)

Is that last mod hard to do?
Cheers

I guess speaker choise makes a difference. Most people seem to like the Ceelstion 12-65 and the EV 12L.
This amp seems to feedback nicely at low volume. I would expect the OD trimmer on this amp to be raised fairly high.
I think this is a realy nice example opf the OTS. I think Tele's are made for this amp.

I had trouble with my OTS as well.
I recently discovered that turning the Presence up to 8 made a big difference in the transparancy of the amp. It almost works like a bright switch without cutting the lows. Just opens up the amp. Quite abrubt too (not very linear).

For me it takes away the "blanket over the speaker". Obviously it makes the OD sound a bit brighter as well, but turning up the (power) amp takes way the nasty edge.

I do use a D-lator, so result may vary :-)

Hopes this helps (a bit).
Steven

Hi Hywelg. How do you use the RC? is it any good with the OTS?

I have a Wampler Extacy use it for more extreme distortion. I have been fiddling with my setup a bit so can't give you an up to date review on it. Good quality stuff though and the Extacy is pretty versitile.

true. I need to trust my ears not my eyes.
If you realise what kind of gasses I use that might be a better option anyway LOL Cool

ah ok
srange, if you look at RF's Dumble. His Presence is mostly around noon I think.

Hi Erwin. was that the mod you tried on my amp?

I that is the case:
It seemed to react a bit different altogether. Hard to explain without a real a/b test
I have the feeling with the mod we tried, there wasn't a real linear effect either. The sound seemd a bit different as well.
