It'll take you a day or two!! Something like 45 pages..... Have you tried using a doughnut shaped blocker in your mount Doc? As I understand it its not a 'beam' as such at the speaker, the beam is created by time effects/phase cancellation caused by the sound coming from a non-point source. JM's doughnut is designed to prevent the phase cancellation, though in my experience there is a lost of top end, but the sound is more consistent around cab.

I had problems doing my first build, until I put the two wires in a vice and spun the other ends with a drill. Whilst still under tension I then used a hot air gun to soften the plastic and when cool they stayed tightly wound.

Hi Doc, nice to see you back. Do you have any experience with 10's?.
I've got a 4x10 with 4 Jensens P10r's. I'd like to change two of them for something a little warmer. Thinking about Celestion Greenback 10's or something from the Eminence range. I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Custom amp building, Prototypes and other amps / Mods and Tweaks / Re: Modded a Plexi 50

Love the second clip, gain down a bit and the Plexi , boy I bet that was loud. My Plexi50 is soooo loud when crunching like that, I can't hardly ever use it. I've got Powerscaling fitted but some of the response and clarity goes when throttled back. Are you able to have it exactly as original in any of the modes you now have?
I'd love to see what the mods were, I guess its some sort of cascade V1a into V1b? Did you go ahead with a loop? I can't see an jacks.

He also uses a custom (modded) Two-Rock in a "Custom Reverb Signiture" chassis. The amp is supposed to have NO overdrive channel (Single channel) and just ftsw' able FET with "Skyliner Specs" w/ verb. Also he is infamous for using oval ported 4x10 T-R cabs which I think contributes to his sound greatly.
He has used for quite a few years a Two Rock CRS, stock but with a 2x12 open back cab not a 4x10. He commisioned the BLudo after having Larry Carltons to use for about 6 months or so last year, but I am not sure he has even used his own Bludo live. I was very fortunate to get to go on one of his masterclass weekends last summer (2009) and I had been hearing impressive things on the net about the Dr Z EZG50, and I swear before he had chance to unload his gear or I had any inkling about it I asked him whether he had had chance to try one, knowing how much he used to like his Super Reverb. He said yes he had tried one and loved it, and guess what? he had bought one and brought it with him along with the DrZ 4x10. He also talked about the Matchless King Cobra that he had on order. He is the sort of player that will sound stunning through just about anything (maybe not a Line6) The main reason for the change was, apart from digging the tone he was getting, he wanted to get away from all the hype that surrounded D* clones and the comparisons with RF. It is true though that TR have since built him a single channel clean amp that he used on his tour of the States but that might well stay in the States for N. American gigs. I'll let you know what he's using in Europe later, I will be seeing him on Nov 11th here in Nottingham The masterclass was a great experience but I am still crap

I've just acquired this from Warmoth.
I've got a luthier finishing a wide neck (46mm nut)for me and I was intending fitting it to a body I bought off eBay a while back, however I was scammed, all the routs were wrong, (possibly for a 24 fret neck) and the seller now has disappeared and his own website is gone and there are loads of disgruntled people who suffered the same fate.
So this is the replacement. Very well finished it is too.

I'm not sure what the tolerances are for UPS's though, a couple I have read are +-5% which equates to +-11volts. Not sure if that is adequate seeing as that is pretty much what we get now at different times of the day. And very few of them output a sine wave.

Hi All,
I'm interested in ordering a 2550 kit shipped to the US..
How is the ordering handled? Promptly? What would shipping be? And if I needed parts how hard would they be to get?
And how is the support? I'm a little hesitant to order things from other countries...

Don't be, I have had way worse service from shops less than a mile away. Nik is brilliant, even after he's had your money and I doubt there is better customer service anywhere.

However a power conditioner will do nothing to help that situation, unfortunately. Whats needed is a Voltage Regulator, along with a conditioner. I've been looking out for one of those as I've noticed exactly the same thing, some times my OTS sounds great and other times not so.
I've looked at the Furman gear but they're too expensive for me for the EU voltage models. I wonder if anyone has tried some of the better (sine wave output) computer regulators? They do seem to be a good price.

Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: HRM trim pots newbie question
|
on: October 11, 2010, 08:46:08 AM

The thing you're missing is that the internal HRM trimpots follow after the main tone stack and affect the relationship of the OD tone to the clean tone. The HRM stack is used to set the tone relative to the clean tone. You obviously need to do this at reasonable volume initially but at a gig you will then change your tone with the clean tone stack, which is always in circuit.
