Here's a clip I did with the Overtone and my old Vox wah wah from the 70's. Marin

this is the pedal. Mint condition, just a few scratches. Grin

and... Huh?
do you like it better than before

 Huh?
Just finished it last night, so it may take a few days to get a good impression. Here is a sound clip:

I can't seem to upload the PDF schematic, the upload screen just freezes. I'll try later.

I like that very much. Really old school rock!

Very, very good. Smiley

Hey Andy,

you just made all my clips sound pathetic! Grin

Amazing stuff. Does that high-end harmonic / slapback come from the delay?

Marin

thanks guys.

Steven, essentially it is only the Overtone. There is no OD pedal or something like that. The gain was set pretty much to the max (no PAB) and with the Rock switch on. I did a bit of post processing with the delay and reverb, but no compression.

poipounder57: fingers....yeah, perhaps.  I had a friend over yesterday and he tried the Ceriatone and he dialing in tones which simply weren't "mine". I guess that tone may be in the "fingers" but I am beginning to think that "tone is in the dialing" too. Smiley

thanks

thanks Steven. I was looking for a modern, mesa boogie type of tone. I didn't really mean to pollute the forum with it! Grin

Does it work well with the Overtone?

M.

Well, I like it very much but I feel nervous while using it, 'cause it has just 25W. Wouldn't like to fry it.
 Sad

Don't worry, you'll hear when it start to break! Smiley

It can definitely break-up earlier,... it's still a Celestion sounding, just more Fenderish compared to 1265.

Jack, Nice tone!

However, I would need to carefully A/B it with your previous clips to understand the difference. Also, it sounds like you are mixing in the delays differently than before?

Mine is a January model, I wonder which version is it? Huh?

M

The changes I'm after are to get the OD to sound more like the robben OD and to open up the clean sounds so they are not so peaky. Also, I find that with the stock circuit I have to turn the tone control way down on the guitar and keep the treble and presence at 10 O'Clock so ideally I will have more useable tone control range.

Yeah, but if you had a g12-65, you wouldn't have to worry about that, since it tames the highs....but you say that its too dark? Huh?

Sorry Jack, I'm not really sure what you're after? Something in between a g12-65 and RWB?

Gathered from ampgarage and the brownnote forums, I am armed with the changes necessary to make this amp sound more like robben's dumble ala *ludotone or *uchs or *arole-ann.

When I'm done, I think you guys will find that the amp sounds much more delicious and it's only a few bucks in parts. Hopefully Nik will incorporate the changes back into the production model.

In addition to the values, I'm using carbon film resistors in certain audio-path areas and specic types of caps in other areas to make the tone more musical.

Stay tuned!

excellent work given that you say that you are not an electronics expert.

I'm too lazy to open up an amp and my usual amp tech is too grumpy to be visited. Cheesy

I have a 2x12 cab coming with greenbacks. It can be run either open or closed back. I'm hoping it'll get more of a hendrixy sound with my marshall clone but it'll be interesting to hear it with the overtone...

I have just ordered a small cab with a G12M Greenback.

I am curious what it will sound like. I'll post some clips in 3 weeks when it should arrive.

Marin

Mine Greenback cab has more hi end and different low end (probably due to different cab design), overall I would say more Fenderish sounding. I know it sounds stupid but that's how I feel about it.

 Huh?

My 1x12 is like that. It has a door at the back which can be removed to make it a open-back.

Actually, the cab I have ordered is an ISO-Cab but it can be used as a normal speaker too. I want to be able to push the speaker a bit more without having bothering the neighbours.

Also, I am curious to see if the Greenback can get me a g12-65 tone with an earlier break-up.

Interesting, that sounds like the description of a Jensen.

Are you happy with the tone?
