107  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: OTS Burn in on: July 03, 2010, 12:37:23 AM
When I got my HRM I gave it a very short burn in because I just wanted to get out and play it. It was a bit stiff sounding at high volumes but sounded good.

I decided to do the "Burn In" one day so I turned it on and left it for 2 days, what a difference it made.

A great sounding amp just got better.

The other thing I did to was adjust my Phase Inverter, I read on a post here to have 10 more volts on pin 1 than pin 6 on V3. This also made a difference to the bloom of the amp.

But I wouldn't do any PI adjustments until your amp in well and truly burnt in and all the components have settled down.
108  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Where can I adjust bias and OD-pot on: July 03, 2010, 12:21:26 AM
The OD Adjust is the trim pot is the one on the board closest to the preamp valve V2

Hi Nik
The negative comments on other forums of the quality of your components that you use, are totally unfounded.

It is either driven by jelousness and / or pure snobbery or by your competition.

Everyone that has had a go on my HRM was blown away on how good it sounds

Keep up the great work you have my future business. I can feel some GAS coming on. Grin

Hi Hywelg
Also have a look at Warehouse Guitar Speakers. I bought 4 ET65's off them which are a clone of Celestion G1265's.

So far I have only used 2 of them in my 2x12 Fender Supersonic cab and they sound far better than the Celestion Vintage 30's that were in it.

I have nearly finished restoring my 4x12 cab which they will end up in, but I too am looking for either a Plexi 50 or 2550 kit from Nik and running it with my HRM Grin

WGS do clones of just about everything British and American. I paid US$65 each and even with shipping to Australia it was cheaper than getting the 4 Celestion speakers that came with the 4x12 reconed.

113  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: smartulator settings?? on: May 30, 2010, 01:51:09 AM
I should imagine the settings would be similar to the Klein-ulator, the manual for that is on the Ceriatone website.

But try these settings as a starter
Send / Drive - about 2 o'clock
Return / In - flat out
Out / Recovery - about 2 o'clock (this acts as a master volume for the amp)
Both bright switches - off

I'm about to purchase a kit soon myself Grin
114  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Levels with "dumblelator"and multi fx (thinking out loud) on: May 20, 2010, 01:27:34 AM
Thanks guys
But why not set the input on the Lexicon at max and then set the correct level with the send on the D'lator?

Then it wouldn't be at unity gain and you can induce unwanted noise into the signal I.E. hiss by boosting a quiet signal into the Lexicon.

I know we are talking about Multi FX units not floor pedals but I found my send levels on my Klein by using my UniVibe which is muddy with a low signal and thins out if the signal gets too high.
I don't use it actually in the loop but it was a good way to find my send level.

116  Custom amp building, Prototypes and other amps / Mods and Tweaks / Gibson 50's wiring for a Strat on: May 09, 2010, 02:42:46 AM
I found a link to this article on another forum and have tried this on 1 of my Strats, good improvement on tone especially when you wind the volume back. Easy mod to do Grin

It has videos on building a overtone

Hi
Somebody has done this in earlier threads on this forum, mid to late last year.
I don't remember the guy's user name he was from the UK but its very detailed and also I remember seeing a link to his site. I guess it is a matter of trawling through the threads and finding it, it would be nice to be a sticky at the top of the forum.
Good luck with your build
119  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Re-Start on: April 16, 2010, 01:35:24 AM
Hi
The most important thing I have found with these amps is burning them in.

I got mine and was really eager to play it and was really happy with it, but only gave it a short burn in.

Then I turned it on 1 day and left it on for 3 days straight and what a difference to the tone, best sounding amp I have owned  Grin

The next most important choice is speakers.

My cab had Celestion Vintage 30's and now I have Warehouse Guitar Speaker ET-65's which are a clone of Celestion G12-65's and these sound so much better than the V30's with this amp.

I haven't tried EV's yet but they seem to be a very popular choice on this site.

Good luck with your new amp
120  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Ceriatone OTS Amp Settings Please!! on: April 16, 2010, 01:18:27 AM
Here is my Kleinulator settings

Send = 2 o'clock (found this setting by listening to the tone of my Univibe)

Return = fully on

Recovery = 2 - 3 o'clock

Bright 1 & 2 = off

Cheers
