Ceriatone / Overtone / suddenly have harsh 'distortion' on clean and od channels, any suggestions?

Hi guys, i haven't used the amp for a month and when i turned it back on i found that i have an unpleasant harsh sound which is present on both channels. i have changed the preamp tubes which did not make it go away. it is like distortion but seems to show a very short decay when you play the strings. sorry if this isn't clear but i doing my best. Can anyone suggest what has gone wrong? BTW it absolutely is not me being unable to tweak my amp it is a problem !!!! thanks, laurie

Send 1.0 o'clock return 5.0 o'clock and recovery about 9.0 o'clock and up as i run the power amp at 5.0 to warm up the amp. i use the recovery as a volume control and like the sound a lot

Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Build and Mod question

i did this mod courtesy of Mcinku' s layout and it does give an improved mids response. as i would never have used the FET input this is a good mod and relatively easy to do, too, laurie

could you post a wiring diagram as to how you did this? i would like to keep the bright switch and remove the FET and replace it with the mid boost switch. regards laurie

Hi! the last time i built a tube amp from scratch was 30 years ago and i managed to get the OTS right pretty much first time. i have modded it a bit since then and it has given me immense satisfaction to have built such a fine sounding amp. i say if you go at it carefully, it is do-able. it is a complex build, the hardest that Ceriatone make, i think [barring its 100 cousin, of course!] on the other side the cost of having a first class build by Nik is ludicrously cheap; so you pays your money and makes your choice?? laurie

Ceriatone / Overtone / rack mount for Kleinulator
|
on: September 13, 2008, 05:32:39 PM
|
hi guys, i use a large open backed cab for my Overtone which has space on the top for 3 1U rack units........one has the TC Electronics G Sharp in it and i am wondering if Nik has any desire to build the Kleinulator into a rack unit. i already have the Kleinulator and love it , but it would be a lot easier to use and transport if it were in rack form. Any of you know about this???

hi, I use a Steelsound 2X12 unported cab with a Celestion Classic Lead 80 and an Eminence 'The Governor". The effects rack is aTC Electronics G sharp and i use a KLeinulator. The pedals are a bypass for the TC, a simple MIDI change pedal and aPeteresen Strobostomp. i use a home made 12VDC-9VDC convertor to run the MIDI pedal from the live side of the OTS PAB foot switch. It works ok with rervations.
