1  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: Should a fender based circuit "amp of the gods" not sound awesome? on: February 09, 2013, 10:52:35 PM
I have a Two Rock Studio Pro 100, a Fuchs SLX ODS 100, Vibro King (Modded), an HRM Bluesmaster 100 and an FM100 Ceriatone.
I have had a Blackface 65 Super Reverb (original) with all original iron.
My Ceriatone amps are not taking a back seat to the others.......they are ALL great amps Chair Dance

Speaker cabs, tubes, pickups, pedals, room acoustics...etc all can make an amp sound like heaven or crap.
BTW, I prefer EVM12Ls in 1x12 or 2x12 cabs with open backs.

Dumble sounds aren't for everyone.

Not that much difference if you rely on pedals.
I have a Bluesmater HRM 100 (with Mercury OT, PT and Choke)
An FM 100 OTS Modern Eagle
A Fuchs ODS 100
and a Two Rock Studio Pro 100

They are all really good but the TR gets a great clean sound for sure...you have to work to dial the Mayer out of it.
(or pull the mid boost)
4  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: My 4th Ceriatone...an HRM Bluesmaster 100 Head on: September 26, 2012, 04:57:38 AM
I have been playing it for a couple of hours with my EJ Strat...and I am inspired.....and I need inspiration at 57!!
I have a Murphy Les Paul with WCR Crossroad/darkburst pickups I will try tomorrow.
I think it will be what I have been looking for as a tonal palate.

Thanks Nik...and Mercury!!!

For those that have not tried....This thing loves the Fulltone Tube Tape Echo.
5  Ceriatone / Overtone / My 4th Ceriatone...an HRM Bluesmaster 100 Head on: September 26, 2012, 01:52:50 AM
Found a great used amp looking for a new home! My Home!!
A blonde HRM Bluesmaster 100 Head w/ all Mercury OT, PT and Choke.
It is different from the FM 100 but I am loving the clean channel.
I bought it from a gentleman named Albert,
Says Nik built it with the Mercs installed.
Some have said it can do a Mayer tone. Close I think with tweaking.
I have a Two Rock Studio Pro 100 that you can hardly dial out the Mayer.
I also have the Two Rock 2x12 with the WGS 65s loaded. That is half the Mayer tone to me.
FM 100 is cleaner and maybe a tad more chime built in like Robben Ford's Tele sound. Seems the BM is more 3D?
Both are better than the best Fenders I have had. Tweaked Vibro King is close maybe.
I like 100 watt heads and can put up with the ear pain. They just sound better to me.
I am reading through the BM settings thread and have resolved not to set the OD Trim past 11.
Last amp I want from Nik is the SSS....someday.  Chair Dance Chair Dance

My son Clint is a player!

He had the PPIMV set on 12 (o'clock)
The Treble, Mid and Bass on 11 (o'clock)
Presence on 9 (o'clock)
Volume on 9 (o'clock)
1/2 power switch on FULL
Dead on with no pedals Kenny Wayne "Chase the Rainbow" tone!
(EJ Strat w/ 2x12 Vibroking Cab loaded with EVM12Ls)
I changed V1 and V2 to Tung Sol 12AX7 and the sound was better than before.
Chinese 12ax7s removed.....
I still have 1 tube that has a squeel/harmonic when it is dimed....
I will find it!
JJ El34s...... I may find some NOS tubes to try...
The secret to the wrecks I have read is the preamp tube must be dead on perfect to make the amp magic.

more to come.....Thank You Nik!!!!

Very busy week at work.
I did play a bit and the sound is very good!  No, really good!
I find when I crank it I like the bass adjusted slightly down.
I found the spot where you could use the guitar knob to get the clean and the wreck drive.
I have to put the amp away from the front of the 4x12 or the 2x12 due to resonating a tube a bit too much.
I cleared a spot on top of the cab and it was fine.
It is louder than I expected!
It likes the strat and the les paul equally.

I will try working with the PPIMV at full volume and different settings when the house is empty.
The amp for sure goes beyond the plexi in terms of gain!
It is like the OTS and any other good amp. You have to spend some time with it to be sure you get the best out of it....

Any hints from guys that have one I am all ears.....

Just got my white tolex Gabkits Super Lead Cab with gold piping!
Can a cab really make the amp sound even better? Grin
Also got an Eric Johnson style Y cable that makes blending sound even better!

This thing is so pretty I wanna buy it a new dress w/ pumps.

Yeah Baby!!

My amps sound great no matter what is in 'em!
Keep doing what you are doing. Most of us (if not all) will keep buying.

We have been playing the super bass  a lot and the sound from the Avatar cab and the amp is opening up and sounding more and more vintage plexi!! Loud too.. Still got to get a head cab for it. Grin

nobody else has one or even played one ?
12  British Style / Plexi Lead, Bass, Superlead / Super Bass 100 is a winner! on: June 11, 2011, 03:30:29 AM
I had Nik build for me a Super Bass 100 as close as possible to the 67 specs. It has an effects loop that works as well as the one on the OTS  FM100. It is an awesome amp for the money and it really wails when you dig in to it. I did not want a Super Lead because I think some of them are a little bright for my taste. I was wondering, who else has  bought this amp and what they are using with it. I plan to use this with the FM 100 OTS to do kind of a Joe Bonamassa type, 2 amp rig... I know he uses 4 most times. Still need to find a good Y cable....
BTW, with a Wampler Pinnacle pedal this amp is over the top Eddie.

Craftsmanship/soldering/ layout is a work of art too!!
13  Ceriatone / Overtone / Re: FM 100 vs HRM Bluesmaster...? Robben Ford Tone? on: June 05, 2011, 04:44:32 PM
Replaced the broken DPDT switch in the FM100 with a new one this AM!!!
Amp sounds awesome...ESPECIALLY with the C-lator!!

Switched the LNFB switch to the most pleasing setting (not labeled, 2 choices on bottom of the chasis)
Rock on, deep on, bright in middle of the 3 way, both overdrive knobs set at 10 o'clock, still playing with the others....
Like the footswitch. Amp is very quiet. Playing through a single EVM12L in an open back cab.
Gonna try my Zendrive pedal up front. Have the reverb, tremolo, chorus and delay in the C-lator loop.
Other drive pedals I have are the OCD, TS808, Carl Martin Hot drive and boost plus an EP Booster.
100 watts is VERY loud into a single EV!! This is a versatile AMP!!
The Super Bass is off for the first time in 3 days!!

Got the FM100 Modern Eagle plus 100w Plexi Super Bass w/ C-lator on Thursday!! (both have the loop)
Thanks Nik!!I am enjoying the Plexi a LOT!! I have an Avatar 4x12 w/ Celestion Lead 80s and it puts out the DB for sure.
UPS did crack the rock/jazz toggle DPDT switch on the FM100 so I have bled the filter caps and will be replacing it 'round midnight central...if all goes well.
Got the head cab for the FM100 but not for the Super Bass...had some wicked feedback at first with it but Nik helped with the suggestion to put a metal pan under the chasis...tried a sun shade for a car w/metallic fabric and VOILLA!!It is quiet as can be..
Lots of options for sounds now...plan to use two amps and two cabs for a EJ or Joe Bonamassa type sound..

My son and I just got a 4x12 cab from Avatar loaded with 4 Celestion Lead 80s.
We have been hitting the cab with a Mesa Mark I reissue, a Fender Vibroverb custom 64, a Fender Concert and a Fender Super Champ. ALL of the amps sound awesome with the Lead 80s just with the bigger amps you cannot walk in front of the cab while playing due to shear volume. Eric Johnson prefers the Lead 80s in his cabs for the tone they have. I bought the cab for the Plexi 100 Superbass Nik will be shipping me this week. Even if you use only one CL 80 in a 1x12 it will work with most any amp. A 2x12 would sound even better. The lead 80 does not have a piercing high end or a brittle sound. It does have a tight bass and is very articulate. Seems to be good with faster lead guitar playing. Chords sound good too. I wish they made them in a 10" version.
