heh, they seem great, and that red box thing is very nice.. i wish i could have enough in my current budget for one

the band's going through a lot of different ideas for recording, and might not even use the hotel idea.. hmm.. but i guess the real issue is being able to make the champ usable for both recording and jamming purposes.. its either too loud, or too soft
2  Website, Store / General / recording without a mic? on: October 27, 2008, 06:12:55 PM
hi, sorry for the slightly silly question, but i have a ceriatone champ, which i would love to use for an upcoming recording project, but i do not have a mic, and the recording is to be done in a hotel room, so the volume is not really welcome here..

i'm also looking at alternatives like softwares (guitar rig) but i would like to find out if there's an option to record my ceriatone (as i am totally used to how it sounds together with everything else in my rig) like: plugging out from amp into DI box>soundcard?

hehe actually, i was pretty overwhelmed.. lots of amps all over the place! i believe i saw the marshalls but not the overtone.. also saw a rare amp that nik was talking to me about.. he's an amazing guy, but felt so ashamed that i didn't know enough to converse with him  Embarrassed just hang on, that overtone will get there soon!

hey.. i don't think i can get a gut shot as i'm near useless with screwdrivers and stuffs.. would need to open the cab enclosure to access it..

im using celestion vintage30s in it.. nik put that in by default.. how high do you crank the amp to be able to get an overdriven sound from it? i rarely get the chance to crank it full in normal non-tweed mode.. it sounded clean then too

i implemented most of your features recommendation.. 6v6 and 6L6 interchangeable with bias switch.. tried both tubes recently, and i love the clean sound on 6v6 more currently.. maybe its coz its already too loud to crank with the 6v6, and if i use the 6L6, it'd get much louder.. hows your champ currently? done anything new to it?

just picked up my champ amp from nik's office a little over a week ago.. had been playing with it whenever i got the time, so haven't really got a chance to post about it here!

anyways, great lil amp, found lots of headroom in it, and for a bedroom player like me, lots of volume!! had only cranked it up to full volume on normal mode in the afternoons when i'm at home and not occupied with uni classes.. nearly blew me away since i was sitting right in front of it!

thanks mcinku for helping me decide on this amp!

i was looking for pretty much the same thing too.. a fendery clean sound that wouldnt be too loud to not be able to get overdrive out of at a reasonable volume.. went for the bf champ.. its been nearly 3 weeks since i placed my order, so it's gonna be done in a few more days.. cant wait.. i know the low wattage rating of the champ may put you off, as i have my doubts too.. guess we'll find out once i get my hands on one!

what's the difference between the 18 watt models? different tubes and tmb controls? think its a silly question, but would appreciate some feedback..  Huh?

haha yeah i know that's major volume for home use but im just wondering if its worth saving up for that particular brown amp which is at a gigging wattage.. i know most people still use their major wattage amps at home but im worried that i'll feel bad not fully utilizing it..

the issue is that im not sure if i would be gigging or not, and the jam studios usually have an amp there which may not be good.. can the champ go over the drums and remain clean?

im just wondering which would be the cleverer investment..

add another letter to that, V********..

im still confused over my possible choices of an amp.. especially when i decided the 50s strat would be worth the extra cash over the standard.. leaves me on a tighter budget

get a bf champ (unmod/mod?) or wait for this brown sound monster which i would probably never get to bring out the best of in my bedroom and unlikely to use for jamming and gigs.. is it wiser to just use those amps they have in the cheap studios and gigs? and just settle for a bf champ for home use?

im not sure if that's what we're supposed to say.. haha but yups! that's one hot amp.. had some financial setbacks, and it seems if im going to ever obtain one of those, i would need at least two more years.. hope you guys would keep me posted on it, and how it sounds and feels when you guys purchase it..
14  American Style / 5E3 Tweed Deluxe / Re: Is the 5e3 right for me? on: December 10, 2007, 08:44:49 AM
close.. but not quite.. its one that both jeff buckley and srv used at one point in their career.. darn.. both very big influences on me.. go look it up and see..  Wink

is it ethical to reveal it actually?  Lips Sealed

champ deal is on hold for now.. gonna have to save up for something else.. nik tempted me with a new upcoming amp.. lets just say, its 'american'.. and its brown..  Wink

he also said 'save up'.. this one's gonna be good
