1  Muchless / Lightning / Re: lightening cab on: January 02, 2010, 08:00:06 AM
It will but the mounting hole pattern is different so if you don't mind drilling a few holes and plugging the matchless ones you're good... Or see if they will make you one without the holes drilled for tge mounting of the chassis..?

I'd love to see pics when you're done,
I really like my dc but I have yet to decide to put it in a head or combo

I love the natural wood look, I had a head cab made for me but the dimensions ended up wrong so I scrapped the idea...

Any interest in a dc30?

Thanks
4  Muchless / DC 30 / Re: Channel 1 similar to a lightning on: November 06, 2009, 06:05:41 AM
After playing both channels with an a/b back and forth I'd really like to get a touch more natural overdrive out of the channel 2 so I could set channel 1 as a cleaner sound still a hint of pushed, any ideas ?
I'd rather not use a pedal or the effects loop, are there any values I can play with or anything like that?
5  Muchless / DC 30 / Channel 1 similar to a lightning on: November 05, 2009, 04:45:07 PM
So I have the dc but I'm debateing getting the lightning, is the channel 1 of the dc the same circut as the lightning,? I run it in 15 watts on the ef86 channel mostly so I haven't explored the channel 1 tones, just wanted to get feedback and see if purchaseing the lightning would be redoundant ...

Thanks guys

I do notice when I have my master volume engaged and it's on a low volume it will do something similar but when I increase the master volume it goes right away, if you're hearing it at full power with the master bypassed then it's probably the tube, but I would have it checked first, I'm running a nos ge ef86 and I love it no microphonics at all no rattles or wierd noises..

Does this also happen on the channel 1? It may be a bad power tube?

Just a thought
7  Muchless / DC 30 / Too sensative master volume on: October 25, 2009, 10:54:35 PM
Just been haveing an issue where the matser goes from nothing to loud... It works but it's just not a smooth arc of volume... It reminds me of my old Mesa dc5 with that amp there was a resistor that was on the matser volume that you clipped off and problem solved smooth volume arc...
Does anyone have a solution?
Is anyone else experiencing this with their dc?

Thanks for the help
8  Muchless / Lightning / Re: Lightning Undocumented Features? on: October 13, 2009, 03:42:05 AM
It should when pulled out be a master volume, when pushed in it is bypassed.. That's how my dizzy 30 works.... As far as I know it doesnot bypass the tone stack... I might be wrong considering I'm baseing this off of my amp,
#1 input is usualy high farthest to the left
#2 input is usualy low

I'm in the market for a lightning
9  Muchless / Lightning / Trade dizzy 30 for a lightning? on: October 11, 2009, 04:33:57 PM
I've got a great dc but I am drawn to the lightning,
I have an array of nos tubes in her so it sounds great, nik
built it so it's super clean, housed in a custom built head cab

No issues with the amp I just like the lightning better..
You can email me dirctly @ green65vert@yahoo.com
Thanks guys..
10  Muchless / DC 30 / Re: Looking for an Overdrive/boost pedal for the DC-30? on: September 28, 2009, 02:59:54 AM
I have four different overdrives...

Original ts 808 ....
Paul cochrane Tim
paul cochrane Timmy
fulltone ocd

ok the 808 sounds good a nice bitty midrange but to my ears this pedal sounds ok
honestly I'd rather overdrive the channel sounds better than this one...

Fulltone ocd... Incredibly transparent pedal, it can get nce and dirty but when you pick light or strum lightly it really cleans up well.. The high pass & low pass filter is nice too..

Paul cochrane Timmy ... To me I use the in conjunction with the Tim pedal... But as an overdrive it is very very nice... The tone controls are cut controls so more is less.. But man it just plain adds to the tone of the dc even if it's at a low drive level it just adds something special to the amp.

So I use the Timmy as a tone shaper first then I set the Tim as my overdrive.. The Tim has an additinol boost with level & tone... It's an incredible pedal on it's own ... It's a little softer sounding to me than the Timmy, the Timmy has a bit more midrange bite to my ears,

I use a tele with a humbucker in the neck on the top boost channel

Chain is

Tele-Timmy-Tim-ernieball volume-line6 dl4 modded-boss ns2--dc30----1x12 avatar openback with English greenback 16 ohm 25 watt.....

I would say if you can find one go for the Tim pedal it just has mrs versatility, it has an effects loop too that is active when the pedal is engaged.. So really you get a overdrive a boost and a descrete effects loop to that pedal....

Paul is a super nice guy he's in nashville tn..  Usual wait time is around 6-8 weeks

There's plenty of clips on YouTube of this pedal in action

Good luck

12  Muchless / DC 30 / Will the dc30 fit in a matchless head cab? on: September 05, 2009, 03:29:45 AM
Does anyone know if the ceriatone chassis fits in a matchless cab? Either head or combo?
13  Muchless / DC 30 / Re: Lightup faceplate on: August 29, 2009, 03:10:00 AM
Thanks Wyatt this really helps me out,
I had a badcat hotcat 30 and the lights were different
but useing the standard pilot bulbs is much easier to wire up,
I just ordered a lighbox from matchless I had my own logo done,

It should work great

14  Muchless / DC 30 / Re: Lightup faceplate on: August 28, 2009, 03:33:25 PM
So I'm safe to tap off of my pilot light?
15  Muchless / DC 30 / Channel 1 question on: August 28, 2009, 04:33:17 AM
Just curious if there's any way to make channel 1 a non master volume channel and retain the master volume on the ef86 channel..

My problem is I like the overdrive I'm getting on the ef86 but when I switch to channel 1 for the clean it has much lower volume..

Any help would be great,
I know that the badcat hotcat amps run this way where the maser volume has no effect on channnel 1 ...

Thanks guys
