Title: Sozo Caps- Help?
Post by: happykamp on August 18, 2010, 03:36:43 PM
Hi Guys,

I had greytech sound build me a Plexi 50.  I must say I love it.  We put in MM power and and output trannies...Axiom, better power caps, better pots, better wire.

The amp is broken in now and extremley clear and defined distortion, very tight bass with plenty of sustain.  I run one Mullard and Ecc83 seems to work best for me. Black Sable power tubes and a Sag 12ax7 in the driver slot.

My sound is clear natural tube driven distortion, very tight, very full with plenty of headroom and harmonics. NO muck, no garble bettween notes. The only thing I did not do was the Sozo caps. So my question is, from some one who has put these in.  What will Sozo caps do to my sound?

Happkamp.

Better wire.....?
What does that mean exactly?
From reading your post, I would say you will hear a pretty big improvement when you install the Sozo caps.
Good Luck

I can only hear differences between caps on the extreme end, usually 716p OD's compared to Sozo's, the sozo's sound a little less harsh and a bit more vintagey.

If you want to spend even more money on the amp then check out the PIO jensens, there's also the mallory electrolytics

Don't forget about RV4 pots while you're at it

Better wire means silver wire on the inside.....like Kimber cable stuff.  A custom made power cable.....and speaker wire to and in the speaker cabinet.  It all adds up to better prefromance piece by piece.

Thanks guys ...I will check into those RV4
