Guys,

Lots of talk abt AFD these days.

How abt this? Just normal Plexi50 with 1 wire mod.

Dude's asking if he got the tone. I say he's quite there! Smiley

Maybe I'll release it.

AFD 501 - Amplifier For Daddy

OK, those not familiar, AFD = Appetite for Destruction, ie GnR/Slash.

Thanks!

Hey Nik, as long as I have your attention......is there a link to a definitive set of instructions for the "One Wire Mod" ?
This may sound like a stupid question for such a "simple" mod, but I have seen/read a few different explanations of how to do the One Wire Mod.
Thank You

Hi man,

There's indeed a few ways people seems to do it.

But, the simplest would, as the name suggest, is just 1 wire.

And this is basically separating the 470K resistors, and tying one of em to the 68K resistors.

It's best to do it with a switch I think, to get back the stock plexi circuit.

And perhaps, to have a bright switch. My plexi doesnt have bright cap even on the bright pot. With the switch, that can be selected.

The hard part is, it can go a bit unstable when set very high. A lot of playing with the lead dress.

But you dont have to set it at 10 all the time. Balance the 2 vol pots to get the sound you want I guess.

I will make a layout soon. I'd footswitch the thing Smiley (normal switch can also be used of course)

Thanks!

A layout for this on a switch would be cool if you get a chance. Grin

Could someone make a layout diagram for the mod with a switch? I'm very interested, I love Slash's tone and doesn't the one wire mod make the 50w Plexi a 2204? I think this mod, a switch for a fourth gain stage, and a switch for the bright cap on/off would make this amp almost perfect. Maybe also a half power switch.
