Title: Anyone tried GT 6CA7s in a 50W or 100W?

I usually put in JJs, but was wondering how the GT 6CA7s would hold up.

What plate voltages did you get?

I did for about two weeks in my 100 watt super bass (was comparing them to my old sylvania 6ca7's).

increased headroom, and a more balanced sound really. (compared to the GT mullard RI EL-34's which I have in there now)

They didn't sound best with this amp, but they held up fine. Didn't check the plate voltages (I wasn't the one who biased it), but I'll ask the guy who did.

Thanks, I'd appreciate it.
Also experience with any other brand 6CA7 would be appreciated.

Heya Franc

I had some GE ones (Mullard? Says made in UK).

Great tone, much better compared to the Winged C EL34s I had back then.

Wanted to get some more but seeing the price, ouch...!

I am not sure where I got em in the first place..weird..

Thanks!

Nik

the european made 6ca7s seem just be relabeled el34s. try sylvania el34 if you can find them. a bit brighter and clearer than the el34. more evh
