Title: What transformers for a HRM/Bluesmaster?
Post by: henkebarn on May 03, 2010, 10:41:41 PM
I've been offered an output transformer for my coming HRM-project (probably Bluesmaster) for a nice price. It's this one: http://www.tube-town.net/ttstore/product_info.php/info/p2204_Hammond-1750U-Marshall-Outputtransformer-JCM800-100-Watt.html

Totally unused. Is that a good choice? I'm a newbie.

Also, would someone please recommend a power transformer? I'm going for the 100 watt amp, FYI.

Thanks a bunch!  :)  :D

I got a Fender Twin Reverb Xfrmr in my 100w BM and my amp sounds great. There are so many options out there though.

Is that a Power Transformer?

Do they make the sound different? I mean, the one I linked to (that I was offered cheap) is made for Marshalls...

The Output Xfrmr may have an impact on the sound of the amp, . There is probably someone w/ more knowledge on this that can chime in?

BTW

I have a Fender Twin Reverb Power Xfrmr/Choke

 A Fender Tone-master output Xfrmr w/ multi-taps

a power transformer wont change tone unless it changes the voltages. Usually i just go with the cheapest good quality power tranny (weber) and use something like a Heyboer for the output, the output tranny is what will give you the difference in tone
