Post by: TommyTone on May 19, 2010, 04:42:43 PM
What STOCK built Overtone from Nik has the best cleans for use as a single channel clean amp??  Not concerened about what amp has the most versatility via OD channel - Just Clean Channel Only - thanks.

For me it's skyline type tonestack sounds awesome for clean... that's OTS and OTS HRM.

but just for the record, if you like Fender clean, Bluesmaster is closer. BM type amp has scooped mids, more like Fender does. Skyline tonestak sounds bigger to me... especially with SC guitars.

 ;)

if you wanted a clean only amp, why are you going for an OTS?  ???

as far as i know, they're known for their lead channel, and i read a lot about people being disatisfied with the cleans. why not get a fender twin?!  ;D

the cleans are very nice IMO. But yes you are right. Why would you buy it as a clean amp with the ever so important OD channel which is the magic of this amp.

If you want nice cleans get a twin or something. If you want nice cleans and awesome Overdrive get an OTS

Sorry, that was not the question/poll.  Questions was what Ceriatone OTS model has the best clean channel in stock form - no mods.

from looking at the layouts it looks like the OTS, the HRM and the S&M all have the same clean channel, but the OD's are different.

whereas the bluesmaster has the same OD as the HRM and a modified clean channel to be more fendery, and i believe the clean is supposed to breakup a little better.

anyone feel free to correct me if i'm wrong, i'm still new to D-style amps.

IMO the bluesmaster sounds more "dry" and "lifeless" to my ear. Also i strongly dislike 90% of fenders because they are too scooped. The best cleans ive heard came from a Hiwatt, 74 Marshall JMP, and Fender Bassman (59) and the OTS (in no particular order)

Not exactly true... both amps have HRM board but the rest is more or less different ...

really? i thought the only difference between the HRM and the Bluesmaster was the clean channel, and then the OD would follow in its tonal mastery because its technically not a seperate channel?

Non HRM OTS 100w !
Especially with MMs and my mods. Blows away Fender twin with no problems.
Cleans are so good on my Li’l monsta I don’t want to switch on a drive channel.
Don’t get me wrong! Drive is also fantastic but cleans – oh! Pure orgasm! :-*

Let see... Bluesmaster have different plate and cathode resistors, no snubbers on the V2, slightly different HRM tonestack, different bright cap on OD level,...due to different dropping string plate voltage is different as well.... well almost everything is different- except layout is more or less the same
