Title: volume difference
Post by: mkstylee on July 12, 2011, 08:27:54 PM
hi guys ,on my OTS there's a lot of volume difference between the OD channel and the clean channel ,even if the clean volume and the OD level are set the same ,and to balance them up the clean has to be on say 2 o'clock and 9 o'clock on the OD channel is this normal??? i know there will be some differance but the unity gap seems quite wide.

Which model do you have again?
If its non HRM that is what the ratio knob is for.
The volume ratio between clean and OD ;)
between 12 and 3 oclock is where I set my volume knob and then with footpedal switch back and forth while using ratio to make both equal.

Ratio is pretty much OD volume as compared to Clean it does not affect gain, level is more like your gain/OD level.
Use it to match your OD with your clean and that's it.

If you aren't using a Dumbleator you'll want to turn the Ratio control up to about 1:00. Ratio is only a Ratio between the Clean and Overdrive, the Master will control both the Clean and Overdrive's overall Volume on a NON-HRM.

Try these settings:

Preamp "Volume" (1st control to the left): 1:00

  "T" "M" "B" controls to taste

   OD "Level": 11:00

   OD "Ratio": 1:00

The Overdrive controls should look like this: \  /

Master: (Set to the volume you wish) Try 8:00 - 9:00

  "Presence" to taste

______________________________

If using a D-lator try these settings (same settings above with the Overdrive controls):

"Master" (On Amp): 11:00

D-lator Settings:

 "Send" 12:00

 "Return" 12:00

and the last control will now become your overall Master Volume.
