Title: variable slope resistor? Post by: plasticvonaband on March 05, 2011, 09:11:45 AM So, I am probably going to swap out the slope resistor in my Bluesmaster from a 47k to 68k or 100k to tighten up the bass response, but i got to thinking about a slightly different approach and wanted to run it by you guys to see what you think. If I recall, if you wire up a potentiometer using only two lugs (input and wiper) it will act as a variable resistor or rheostat. I was thinking of putting, say a 150k Linear pot on either the front or rear of the amp, and running leads to the spot on the board where the slope resistor is, there by making the resistance adjustable. I figure i can then adjust the pot while checking the resistance and mark the spot on the travel of the pot for different resistance levels so i can have a preset of sorts, and be able to adjust it on the fly to suit my mood. Do you guys think this would work, or would i need to have a resistor, say 100k or 150k on the board and the pot? i'm thinking just the pot would do the trick, but it is late and i may not be thinking straight...

Title: Re: variable slope resistor? Post by: hywelg on March 05, 2011, 09:49:55 AM a coupling cap between treble cap and slope R?
Title: Re: variable slope resistor? Post by: plasticvonaband on March 05, 2011, 09:54:52 AM hmm i was looking at the layout and thinking along those lines... i think i'll just take it my tech and let him figure it out ;D
Title: Re: variable slope resistor? Post by: Pickmaster on March 05, 2011, 12:14:44 PM It's about 255V DC on it and it won’t change much anyway in BM.
If you want to change amp’s overall bass response, introduce NF on V1(OTS type) and try different capacitors from 0,05mf to 500pf and put it on switch near V1. Cheers |
