Title: Two Rock Sig 1x12 Cab with 1265 vs EVM12L 1x12 Cab Post by: TommyTone on December 29, 2009, 12:03:09 AM Two Rock cabinet is very nice quality - here's the tonal difference IMO (keep in mind 12-65 speaker is brand new).
1265 speaker has more midrange and can dirty up more than EV, EV has a more transparent sound, way better cleans - harder to dirty up. What I liked however, was how the two complimented each other when both connected. The resonance quite low, in fact too low for me. The sound also doesn't leap out of the front of the cab, it sounds big and "behind" the cab, even with the amp presence up. I have an OTS 50. The EV is very clear and doesn't compress or break up. It also has really tight bass. It opens up the somewhat dark tones of the 6L6 tubes. It is awesome with Tele and low output pickups. You can dime the amp and it hangs better than anything else. I also have a WGS 1265 (clone) which is much clearer than the Celestion G12-65. The C G12 is more syrupy with a lower mid hump and WGS has a higher mid hump. Playing in traffic we had a problem with the C G12 as the frequencies got lost with the bass player especially playing humbuckers. Just did not cut. The WGS was voiced better and thus a wise choice in that scenario. Comparing the EV and the two 1265's versions, I would say that if you play loud the EV is really the only choice. In fact it sounds a little lifeless until you send lots of juice into it. If you mike your cab then the WGS has more character than the EV and I would suggest that. The C G12 is way overpriced and just too muddy for us. We use the OTS with a Zendrive 1 & 2, a Clark Gainster (for some "brown" edge) and a CE Overdrive (Cause & Effect) which was designed for Dumble gain stacking circuits. We play blues and soulful contemporary music using pine & ash Tele's, a Strat and a 335.

I play blues style mostly with Strats with Kleinulator and T-Rex Replica and todays pedals of choice in front of amp was just a Dumkudo OD and a Dr Scientist Reverbrator.
