Title: Two Rock 1265R Tonal Differences than EVM12L Speaker Post by: TommyTone on December 23, 2009, 07:21:19 PM Just purchased (not arrived yet) during a moment of GAS a Two Rock Sig 1x12 Cabinet with 1265R speaker for my 50-watt OTS, anyone no what tonal differnces I might hear compared to my 1x12 cab with EVM12L Classic.
Thanks and Merry Christmas!! Title: Re: Two Rock 1265R Tonal Differences than EVM12L Speaker Post by: boldaslove6789 on December 23, 2009, 10:38:27 PM the Ev is a full range speaker so it can handle the bass frequencies alot better
Overdrive is a little harder to get some grit. The tw65 is thin sounding compared to the Ev. It does handle Od better but the cleans are to die for with the Ev The Tw65 is Mid rangey to my ears,it is basically a clone of the Celestion G12-65 I guess it all depends on the application you are using it for, also the cabinet you are getting will preserve the lows on the Tw65 and with the Ev will sound a bit thicker Title: Re: Two Rock 1265R Tonal Differences than EVM12L Speaker Post by: TommyTone on December 23, 2009, 11:53:54 PM I'm new to extension cabs, I've always played through a Tweed Blues Jr and used hi-end OD pedals in front to get my blues tone. 2-Rock sig 1x12 cabs go for $800.00 loaded and I was able to buy one for $450.00 delivered, so why not. I bought my Ceriatone used OTS 50-watt and I have one problem that I thought I never complain about coming from a smal combo and using single coils, thin low end. I get a booming bass from my low E string, that rattles my room and poor neighbors and not sure why - only on the low E string. I'm not a tweaker and not sure if it's my settings through Kleinualtor. However when I use my SOV-2 or Dumkudo OD pedal in conjunction with OD channel on amp it goes away...confused. Any help will be appreciated. My current cab with EV is a 1x12 with a port or oval opening in back abd cab sits pretty close to my wall if this helps. I'm very happy with overall sound quality, except for low E bass - sounds like a bass player:-)

Thanks all for your time and help....just a rookie after 20-years of playing.
Title: Re: Two Rock 1265R Tonal Differences than EVM12L Speaker Post by: boldaslove6789 on December 24, 2009, 12:27:48 AM just plug both cabs in and put the imp. selector at 16 ohms.....I have never tried both the Ev and the TW65 at the same time but I think I will try it in the future since I have a 2x12 empty.
The pedal changes your bass responce because it is going threw another tonestack(EQ) in the pedal. Do you have it near a wall? Do you have anything on top of the cab? Title: Re: Two Rock 1265R Tonal Differences than EVM12L Speaker Post by: TommyTone on December 24, 2009, 12:33:59 AM Thanks you for the response. I'm not in front of my amp, how do I plug both in? Yes cab has about 6-8" clearance from wall only. I have amp head on top of cab and on top of head I have Kleinualtor and T-Rex Replica. Cabinet sits on carpeted floor.
Thank you all for your help!!! Title: Re: Two Rock 1265R Tonal Differences than EVM12L Speaker Post by: exocet on December 24, 2009, 10:02:19 AM 2x8 ohm speakers connected via the jacks on the amp = 4 ohm total load and not 16.
