Hi Guys

Just a quick question. Is it possible to change my regular OTS to become a HRM Bluesmaster? If so does the Ceriatone HRM Bluesmaster schematic on the ceriatone website have the JM Mod on it??

I am after some really nice cleans. I only use slight amount of OD on the OD channel on my OTS. So im thinking the BM will be the amp for me.

best person to ask is Nik, but even if you can change the tone stack to BM spec, you will not have the same PI or the HRM post OD tonestack. Also, the component values on V2 are different, no snubbers, no LNFB on V1, etc

i can't remember if you have said before so i'll ask.

1) how long have you had your OTS?
2) How many hours do you have on it?
3) What kind of Cab/Speakers are you using, and how many hours do you have on them?
4) What is it about the clean sound that you don't like, and are you happy with the OD?

I have put about 25-30 hours on amp. I'm using a celestion g12 65. Cab is custom made out of pine to two rock 1x12 dimensions. I have a new one coming made to gabkit size out of birch ply.
The od is okay but I don't use it heavy more like a blues tone. Slight od set at about 2.5. Not to bad. But I'm not in love with it.

Really not sure what to do. I'm after little wing type clean and slight blues tone od for my lead.

Little Wing by Jimi, SRV, or JM?

Suprisingly all three have very different tones when you listen to em back to back and use 3 very different amps and speakers to accomplish it.

Well Jimi's clean on that track can be a lil tricky. Some evidence says he used a BF Twin on that track, other evidence says a JTM 45 in to a 4x12. For certain, he was using a strat with non rwrp in the middle and the either 2 or 4 position (actually the spot we call 2 and 4 now) and a good germanium fuzz with volume rolled back. That cleaned up fuzz sound is hard to duplicate.

I'd get a good germanium fuzz and try it with your OTS first and see if that gets you close before starting all over with a new amp. It may surprise you.

Two rock type clean would be awesome. Then I could switch over to a mild od. That is probably best way to describe it

EVM 12L would be a good choice for speaker.  Try switching to Jazz channel and cranking the Input up to around 6.5.  Warms up your tone.  Switch the V1 to a good RCA blackplate or Telefunken.  Do a bias check on the power tubes as well, it may have drifted.  If you're still not into the tone, sell it and get the bluesmaster.  I'd also think of getting the 100w; bigger tone and better cleans in my opinion.  Keep the c-lator use on the BM.

For sure, for sure! But the clean side of any OTS/HRM would plenty close for rock n' roll.  Wink

A rolled back guitar volume with a proper gain and biased germanium transistor based fuzz is crucial to the actual Hendrix tone.

nudefish11, I would try to give your amp some more time and really bond with what it is, and who knows, it may just end up being exactly what you wanted. If not, then sell it. It would probably be easier to sell it and get something different they try to convert what you have. Not unless you have a lot of experience building and tweaking tube amps.

Also, I know when I first got my HRM I thought that using pedals with it was going to be blasphesmy or something, but some different types of OD and boosts in front open up a whole other pallete of sounds. Does JM get all his tone just from the amp? Just asking, cuz I don't really know.  Smiley

And then there's something like this done with a freaking POD. We are here all concerned about tube amps and specific gains on clean channels and this guys is recording a digital modeler direct into an iPhone.   Huh?

Sounds pretty good IMO. But actually more important the guy is a pretty good player or atleast practiced.
