Title: tried a 12at7 in position 3? Post by: hurtwoodec on November 08, 2012, 04:58:24 AM Ive just changed out my 12ax7 in pos 3 for a 12at7 and it sounds really good. A little less gain but much sweeter sounding cleans.

That tube puts out a lot of current, not as much gain as a 12ax7, so it should drive the power tubes well. I'm pretty happy with the original tube types in the pre positions, but it's good to hear of positive alternate experiences.
