Hi! I got my PT from Nik. I notice the screws are substantially closer to each other making a direct fit to the chassis hole quite impossible. Now I'm wondering if the screws are somewhat tightened slightly of from the PT's screw shafts or something and I'm wondering if I can just loosen them up, re align them, and then tighten again making sure they now align with the chassis holes. Is this a bad idea?

Also, Do I remove the nut which holds the PT together and use it to mount to the chassis? Or are there 4 nuts provided in the kit? SHould I leave the nut and mount it like that with another set of nuts inside the chassis?

You do not remove the nuts holding it together.

You use separate nuts to mount it. I prefer KEPS nuts, especially if you are using it as a ground point.


Can't really help you on spacing. Make sure you have the right PT for the chassis.

I used MM transformers on mine - I don't remember which of the transformers it was, but for one of them I had to drill 2 holes in the chassis because the predrilled ones wouldn't work.

I emailed Nik and he said I need to remove the nuts holding the pt together contrary to what wyatt said (?), then use it to bolt it from the inside. This should re arrange the screws properly and hopefully finally fit perfectly like the pt should. Its made to fit together its an OTS 50 pt. He also advised to scrape the powder coated chassis where it contacts the pt. Is that for heat dissipation only?

Well, so be it.  That is contrary to instructions from most transformer manufacturers, they usually want those bell caps left on.  Many, like Magnetic Components even lacquer the nuts on.

Yes sir I actually read about this. I tried to loosen the nuts a moment ago and the screws can now be adjusted to fit!

Also I wanna make a correction on what I though Nik said. I should just scrape to bare the screw holes on the chassis, not the whole area where the PT contacts the chassis.
