Hello Ceriatone users, I'm about to buy a Ceriatone Overtone Special from my friend. It is very new and isn't the HRM version. I also know the tubes are 6L6s. I'm in love with the thing for the most part, however, I can dial in a pretty good distortion (for my tastes) but it involves the midboost always on with mids and treble pretty high. It still isn't ideal for me. I'm looking for more of a Joe Bonamassa/Eric Johnson sound. Something that is smooth and pleasing to the ear, but has a very intense feeling to it.



This is the sort of sound I'm going for (distortion wise). More British sounding, I suppose? Please inform me of what I can do to make this happen.

Hi,
It is very easy. Just change post drive trimmer 220k resistor to 10k and change V2 330pf capacitors to 470pf as shown on the pic.
You’ll love it.
P.S. Put amp’s rock switch ON and switch OFF dreadful PAB, you’ll never need it.

Can you explain exactly what this does? I've never done a mod in my life so technical terminology makes my mind become all muddled.

This will do exactly what you want – Bonamassa, Govan type of lead sound without boost or any pedal. Aggressive but still creamy overdrive tone with loads of gain.
Clean is unaffected.
Forgive me for asking, what type of guitar god are you? Major, minor, augmented or diminished? Huh? Smiley

Thank you so much. It seems so easy. Should I have a preference of where to buy these items, and should I try to find somebody who has a clue to replace the parts?

Any electric shop or any technician would have this parts and they are cheap too.
Yes good amp tech will do the nice job.
